Also to say that the wealthier of the two deserves the kids because they can afford the kids is a very bad precedent in my opinion.

Does a prenup in Cali have the ability to protect assets and income earned by the family after marriage, or is it just on preexisting assets?

250 is probably too much. lawyers always ask for more than what they know they will settle on.
outside looking in, Kevin Costner is the bad guy. he is buying a lot of negative press by trying to put the screws to his wife and hurting the kids in the process.
divorce is ugly nasty business. everyone will walk away with scars.
