While I agree, a huge number of Americans are oblivious idiots to everything around them. I know I can go in public and stay 6 feet away from everyone. I also feel comfortable that 90% of businesses can tailor their business to keep customers 6 feet away from each other.

What I can't control and don't trust (and have actively witnessed this week) are the hoards of unwashed masses completely fricking this up.

Hospitalized with confirmed positives perhaps?

Are you just looking at corona deaths when you value the lives?

That is all the epidemiologists are going to base their opinion on.
I get where you're going here, but I don't see any reason to believe that the president's timetable was made after consultation with experts in a variety of fields with the goal of saving as many lives as possible. First, there is no evidence of that. Second, that kind of deliberative, deferring to experts, self-sacrificing decision-making process goes against everything we know about Trump as a human being.

I don't think there are enough people out there who are the right combination of dumb and naive enough to believe that version of the story either, but I've been proven wrong about that sort of thing before.

Where were all these experts when this thing was in China? Seems like all the experts were saying muh flu and wash your hands back then.

Or orange man racist for blocking travel to China.

We are less than a 1/3rd of the market and have more admitted positives than that ourselves and Vanderbilt has a bunch apparently.

I bet the real number of hospitalized positives is 30+, not 4.

So glad you asked. Experts were warning Trump, and being ignored, in January

There are more hospitalized than that. Quite a few more. Not sure where that data comes from, but I can tell you with 100% certainty it isn't correct.

So John Cooper is lying in his daily updates? The only way I see it being "wrong" is if there are people with results pending that are hospitalized.

Cooper just has bad or old data apparently. I don't think he's intentionally lying. We've gotten quite a few more the last 24 hours.

I keep the live stats from each medical floor in each of our hospitals on my monitor all day.

We have COVID positive, COVID negative, COVID pending results, vent, etc. data for every hospital.

ETA:

In fact, I'm going to figure out how he's getting his stats from us and make sure those people know where to look for the correct numbers.

To be fair, it doesn't seem to be just the Orange Man and his administration. It was a collective frick up.

The big collective was calling him racist for the China travel ban.

I think we've hit absolute rock bottom from a media hysteria, misinformation and general partisan nonsense like never before. And that is saying a lot. It's tragically depressing watching Congress right now.

Where are the articles from January? You link one now and it is almost assuredly biased by hindsight.

All the focus back then was on Impeachment and muh Russia.

Common Sense isn’t that common. But I do like their approach. It should just include mandatory self quarantine.

They did not...

However you told everybody that 1.6 million USA citizens were going to die! Stated it as fact. You went to the Money board and bragged on DEATH.

It was more than sickening to see you brag that you were "quote right" even though you were still WRONG!

A bunch of white noise and spin in that article. Nothing damning for Trump.

Right here.

And here.

And here's another.

The evidence that the Trump administration should have taken this a lot more seriously just kind of keeps piling up, huh?

Did you read it?
quote:

Public health and infectious disease experts have been urging the Trump administration to take actions to mitigate an outbreak for more than a month. As early as Jan. 28, Borio, along with former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb, began publishing op-eds highlighting the ways the U.S. healthcare system needed to prepare. The first one was titled “Act Now to Prevent an American Epidemic.”

If you read that article from start to finish and found "nothing damning for Trump", then just go ahead and admit that literally nothing will change your mind.
