Was just kidding but appreciate your logical and non-reactive approach to the current state of financial markets.

Not a chance in hell they ran the numbers.
No one would support a 30+% reduction of the economy and a possible 25% decrease in GDP for our response.
It's a one to two week shut down.
Chill the frick out. That does not equal 25-30%.
The auto industry balance sheet is fine right now, otherwise they wouldn't have done this so swiftly. Get a grip.
The fact that you don't understand that the people that are making these decisions have 100x more to lose than you do is baffling.

They will both be fine man. Relax.
Even if they have it it will likely be very mild. They just need to make sure they're informed and adhere to self quarantine

So because the market would have eventually tapered off in a reasonable way, it's fine that it's taken a nose dive due to hysteria politics?
Makes sense.
Makes sense.

The UK is on a three week lockdown now.

Refusing to entertain the market tapering back up in a reasonable way after we're able to get a handle on this due to egomania and bigotry?
Makes sense.
We can go all day man.

but what is the plan if we come out of social distancing and it starts all over again? Should the 15 day SD'ing kill the spread enough?
In Italy, there will be a significant number of people with acquired immunity that will prevent massive spread as we saw at the outset. There may still be protocols in place but at least some portion of your civilization will be generally immune.

Not a single person has said this you fricking dullard.

Your entire point of "Well, it was going to happen anyway so who cares how drastically it's coming about" is ignorant.
"Well, all of those elderly people were going to die anyway, so who cares if the virus killed them."

Similar to how I didn't say one good day would normalize this market.
The point is the market can and will bounce back.
Changing the subject, lots more coming out about how younger people need to be out and about building herd immunity.

Don't care for the Trump comments at this point but its interesting nonetheless and will unfortunately likely prove to be accurate.

Now all of a sudden you are interested in what some people have been saying since the beginning of this thing (quarantine old people and let the young people build up here immunity while still keeping the workforce somewhat intact).
Eta I thought you took issue with something Trump said. The other point still stands.

India's Council of Medical Research advises that high-risk populations begin course of hydroxychloroquine.

New Delhi: Amid rising coronavirus cases in the country, the national task force for COVID-19 constituted by Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has recommended hydroxy-chloroquine as a preventive medication for high-risk population.
According to the advisory, it should be given to high risk population -- asymptomatic healthcare workers involved in the care of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 and asymptomatic household contacts of laboratory confirmed cases.
quote:
The protocol recommended by the National Task Force has been approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DGCI) for restricted use in emergency situations.
"Hydroxy-chloroquine is found to be effective against coronavirus in laboratory studies and in-vivo studies. Its use in prophylaxis is derived from the available evidence of benefit as treatment and supported by preclinical data," the advisory said.Â

These people are partisan hacks but no one will ever remember what was said and done by the media and other opponents of Trump in the days and weeks leading up to the crisis. Trump downplayed it until he didn't and began closing our borders to China. He was called a racist and xenophobe for doing so and these morons encouraged massive congregations as a middle finger to Trump and his administration.
