Testing is not a cure.

Testing is a huge help to hospitals. Right now, lots of healthcare workers get exposed and then have to self-quarantine. When we have the ability to do same-day tests of all those who work at a hospital, exposure doesn't mean that those people have to be sidelined.

Imagine the lives saved if, once the first patient from Lambeth House tested positive, we'd been able to immediately test every resident and worker there, and to repeatedly test them every few days for a couple of weeks.

All of that is besides the flattening of the curve that comes when anyone in the general population who gets a fever or a cough can easily get tested.

South Korea ultimately controlled its outbreak simply because they could test enough people.

Hospitalization in Wuhan peaked a full month after lockdown.

Exactly. And we have done way less testing than Wuhan

We are past this point. If you are exposed you wear a mask and keep working and monitor your temperature unless you become symptomatic

We’re already past this. Anyone in our department who has accidentally been exposed to suspected cases (turnaround on testing is 5-8 days) has to monitor for fever.

Pennsylvania just ordered all "non-life-sustaining businesses" to close complete with an extensive list of what can stay open.
WTAE
Apparently beer, liquor, and wine is life sustaining.

Not quite a full lockdown, but inching closer. Most of my coworkers that are in PA are already treating things like a full lockdown which I think is pretty unhealthy. Fresh air is more important now than ever before.

I mean even under a lockdown I would imagine we can still go take a walk. Being outside poses minimal risk as long as you stay 6 feet away from others and don't touch much

A full lockdown means you can’t open a window or go out in your own backyard? Calm down.

I'm not the one saying that. I'm saying there are a lot of people overreacting and thinking they can't step outside for fear of being struck down by the virus. It's gotten ridiculous.

I make it a point to take the dog for a walk every day.

Why is that shocking. As more tests are available, there will be more cases..

There will always be extremes at both ends. I’m sure there will be a lot of people that tell the government to frick off and go about their business.

I poked my head in my local Mexican restaurant last night, and there were several people drinking margaritas at the bar. That's not quite legal in Louisiana anymore, but I'm not mad at the restaurant owner -- he's getting killed.

Edwards wants to know why you think Louisiana can’t be like Italy when we are on the same path.

Isn’t it his job to do what he can to make sure we don’t end up on that path?
