West Virginia man gets Coronavirus. It won’t be long before his sister, wife, mom, and aunt get it - bringing the total number of cases to 2

Sounds reasonable, although if the patient ends up tubed, I don't believe there's an IV formulation. So you'd have to crush it up, I guess, and give it via NG/feeding tube or rectally, none of which seems ideal.

Again, a major asterisk is needed in front of any statistics from China.

The Chinese government's reported numbers tracked a simple algorithm that was replicated by outside observers. Unfortunately, the official numbers, especially out of Wuhan, will probably be never known.

Here's an article that talked about how China's numbers were extremely suspicious, until they changed the criteria for virus reporting later in February:

quote:

In terms of the virus data, the number of cumulative deaths reported is described by a simple mathematical formula to a very high accuracy, according to a quantitative-finance specialist who ran a regression of the data for Barron’s. A near-perfect 99.99% of variance is explained by the equation, this person said. Put in an investing context, that variance, or so-called r-squared value, would mean that an investor could predict tomorrow’s stock price with almost perfect accuracy. In this case, the high r-squared means there is essentially zero unexpected variability in reported cases day after day.

Barron’s re-created the regression analysis of total deaths caused by the virus, which first emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of last year, and found similarly high variance. We ran it by Melody Goodman, associate professor of biostatistics at New York University’s School of Global Public Health. “I have never in my years seen an r-squared of 0.99,” Goodman says. “As a statistician, it makes me question the data.”

I think I made it up? West Virginia incest jokes have a fairly repeatable format though.

To be fair I have been sitting in my hotel room drinking beer since I’m on a business trip and everything around me is closed, war is hell man, war is hell.

Louisiana Health Alert

“Updated clinical guidance to return to normal activity after being in isolation for suspected or confirmed COVID-19

Please use the following updated symptom-based strategyto return to normal activity following a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19: Continue isolation until:
At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath); and ,
At least 7 days have passed since symptoms first appeared”

Has the possibility been discussed that this was a biological weapon from China

quote:

SARS-CoV-2 is the seventh coronavirus known to infect humans; SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 can cause severe disease, whereas HKU1, NL63, OC43 and 229E are associated with mild symptoms6. Here we review what can be deduced about the origin of SARS-CoV-2 from comparative analysis of genomic data. We offer a perspective on the notable features of the SARS-CoV-2 genome and discuss scenarios by which they could have arisen. Our analyses clearly show that SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus

quote:

It is improbable that SARS-CoV-2 emerged through laboratory manipulation of a related SARS-CoV-like coronavirus. As noted above, the RBD of SARS-CoV-2 is optimized for binding to human ACE2 with an efficient solution different from those previously predicted7,11. Furthermore, if genetic manipulation had been performed, one of the several reverse-genetic systems available for betacoronaviruses would probably have been used19. However, the genetic data irrefutably show that SARS-CoV-2 is not derived from any previously used virus backbone20. Instead, we propose two scenarios that can plausibly explain the origin of SARS-CoV-2: (i) natural selection in an animal host before zoonotic transfer; and (ii) natural selection in humans following zoonotic transfer.

Does anyone know why Spain's infection rates are so high? It's because their socialist/feminist government kept saying that it was just the flu for over a month and a half and arranged a huge feminist march/strike on March 8th. People deserve prison sentences for that level of government recklessness.

The old St. Elizabeth’s clinic or one of the urgent cares? Maybe you’re the guy who took care of me on Monday.

I personally have not used any steroids. I do not use steroids routinely unless indicated. I’m not one of those “just take this decadron injection to feel better”... especially for viruses.
