Has Covid had a big impact on anywhere that isn't a nursing home or elderly area yet?

Is it fair to say the botched testing is the US Federal Govt’s biggest frickup since 9/11? How many additional people could end up dying due to the avoidable testing delays?

Looks like I found an answer to my question:

The study suggests it was crucial to move fast with the interventions China used to contain the outbreak. If testing, isolation and travel bans were brought in one, two or three weeks later than they were, the number of cases could have rocketed three, seven and 18-fold respectively. - LINK

Biggest fedgov frickup since 9/11.

The US got hit in a nursing home early on. 16 of the first 21 deaths were there. How many deaths are there now? Even with that cluster and extrapolating from the estimated 0.6% fatality rate, we should have a good estimation of the number of US cases actually out there.

Isn’t that what we’ve been working with from SK?

I remember yesterday or the day before someone told me this was expected to settle out at somewhere between twice and six times the flu rate. They had a link.

What is the death rate if you’re under 70?

This is stupid. The feds were never going to put a quarantine in place like China did

All of these big measures being taken this week (closings/cancellations/containment strategies) would have likely happened 2 weeks ago or earlier if we had proper testing capacity.

What country anywhere other than China had those in place two weeks ago?

ETA: you could probably answer SK but that would be it.

I posted the breakdown on the last page. It’s skewed heavily to young and female, both groups do better.

In my opinion the truth is somewhere between SK and Italy, probably a lot closer to SK.

Is that not a fair assessment?

“In the wake of the announcement of a confirmed coronavirus case in Rochester, Mayo Clinic started collecting patient samples for COVID-19 testing today at "a drive-thru" site in northwest Rochester.

Tents and heating lamps were set up this afternoon outside Mayo Family Clinic Northwest, at 4111 U.S. Highway 52 North, near Target Marketplace.”
