Testing is important to track spread and find hot spots, but also to calm people down.

If we only test hospital patients people are going to freak the frick out at the CFR, and good luck explaining it to them. We need to find the mild cases.

If you’ve traveled to Africa recently and taken malaria meds or have sickle cell are you less likely to get corona?

Has anyone else noticed that the bums aren’t in the median and off ramp begging for money the last couple days?

The anti-malarial properties have nothing to do with their mechanism of action, so sickle-cell doesn't help.

That said, hydroxychloroquine has kind of a long half-life but I doubt it would help much since you need to take a little more than the recommended max dose to get to inhibitory levels in the blood

Huge but will these costs get passed on at the next renewal to all policy holders? Not discounting this good thing but just wondering. We pay out of the aaa already.

Give credit where it's due, that is fantastic news and I applaud the administration and the insurance companies for stepping up.

Now.. if you don't have insurance you're still fricked though.

Also I work at a nursing home in Louisiana — seven entrances to the building, four of which are used as main entrances.

Today when I got there all doors were locked with signs indicating which door was allowed for entry.

Every employee, every day will have to complete a yes/no checklist. Visitors have to sign in but I don’t think complete the form. What does that help?

Also many staff wished our home had made designated visiting hours like other area homes — between the poor receptionist/clerk doing her job she’s got to direct everyone — deliveries, outside Med personnel (X-ray, hospice employees, etc) to sign in location and tend to them.

At least they’ve finally addressed it.

I guess it depends on how costly all of this ends up

Have you heard anything about a chloroquine/zinc combination for treatment?

I've seen some stuff and wondering if it's being talked about here. I know they've been looking at it for treatment in China but I haven't heard much here.

Zn2+ Inhibits Coronavirus and Arterivirus RNA Polymerase Activity In Vitro and Zinc Ionophores Block the Replication of These Viruses in Cell Culture

Chloroquine Is a Zinc Ionophore

This may have been answered somewhere in here, but of the US confirmed cases, what percentage are in hospital and what percentage are just riding it out at home?
Really???

You can’t get tested and confirmed unless you are very very sick and damn near need to be hospitalized to breath.

Hopefully that changes soon.

Dont call a hotline. You’ll be told to quarantine your whole family until he can be tested. And if you leave, you’ll have Malik calling for you to be burned as a witch.
