A 30 year old healthy doctor in New York is currently going downhill with it. If this stuff gets in your lungs, you wouldn’t call it “just a cold virus.”

Fortunately most of the time it isn’t going into lungs but is that a dice you want to roll just to sound “tough.”

I think many people have in their minds a pandemic must kill like the Bubonic Plague to be taken seriously. Otherwise, it's just "hysteria". Simpletons.

Although it has been reported that 15-20 percent need to be hospitalized, I will say that number is probably on the high side. Regardless, if the real numbers are 5-10 percent need 2 week hospital stays, do you really think the best thing to do is just let everyone exposed go normally about business with no restrictions?

Again I keep going back to Italy, cases needing hospitalization is 55% with 10% needing ICU.

The number was 37,000. So 0.1%. And no, I don’t think 0.7% is enough to write home about.

Because you are focused on the wrong number

Have you been around a patient on a ventilator? If you have you understand the massive amount of mechanical and humans resource required just to keep those people alive. It’s not the fricking Ron Poppel “set it and forget it” ventilator.

Even a handful of ICU ventilator cases will overwhelm small hospitals.

Percentages of what? I’m being told certain numbers matter and now they don’t.

An RBMK reactor cannot explode, therefore it did not explode.

Not downplaying the severity, but Italy was only testing those with severe symptoms so those percentages are definitely inflated.

You said that doc in New York could also happen with a “cold.” I am saying that would be rare as shite. It isn’t rare for the Coronavirus to do that.

This is what worries me for the older population who live in small rural areas -- there are hospitals yes but how many icu beds?

I’m calling his comment an anecdote... because it’s an anecdote.

It worries you? That number is wrong too.

It is an anecdote to you because you haven’t read up about a lot more cases out there like him.

God damn you are stupid. Go take a walk or something so people might forget some of this retardation from your fingertips.

That’s why instead of playing those games, I like the point out objective facts:

ICU beds spilling into the hall due to overflow.

Italy considering cutting access to the ICU to all above a certain age to avoid overloading the system even more...aka leaving them with Tylenol and a death sentence.

Everything else is people trying to rationalize into their narrative.

The above does NOT happen with the seasonal flu.
