I just want to know and have asked about four times -- what type test do they do? Nasal swab? Throat swab?? Blood test???
We don’t have the test yet and I haven’t looked into it.

Rectal thumb pop. Most accurate method.

We certainly don't need a million people tested in the US already do we? Or was just a if we have to we would be able to do a million?
As we sit, people are only tested due to having traveled to a heavily exposed country, china south korea etc. or having been exposed to Corona Virus or someone thought to be infected, AND having a fever. If you don't meet those criteria you don't get tested.
That means there are a shite ton of people that are not being tested, while they are currently infected. They are walking around spreading this disease.
Why were the testing criteria so stringent? Because up until now we fricked who knows who's pooch and had limited capabilities. With expanding ability to test, the criteria will loosen and we will be able to catch infected and contagious people prior to them infecting 10 others.

I haven't kept up, but early on I was reading reports that upwards of 20% of people infected had no (serious) symptoms yet were still contagious.
Is that still what they're saying?

A medical professional will swab inside a patient's nostril and throat. If the patient has a wet cough, they'll also collect sputum (the mixture of saliva and mucus that is coughed up). These samples are then examined in a lab for genetic material that indicate whether the coronavirus is present.

Thanks ... never have heard a method of testing spoken about.
How "worried/concerned" is Scruffy? I'd be interested in his take on this.

Thanks Mizzoufan. Scruffy be gentle with that test!

The subreddit for coronavirus had around 190k subscribers a day ago. It had been steadily increasing by a few thousand new subscribers per day. It exploded today, adding 60k new subscribers. Just an indicator of how many people are paying attention.

Her best friend's dad brought their house bleach and said if water runs out, treat the creek water with a drop of bleach
Oh boy. You should probably let her know that dead from bleach ingestion is probably about the same as dead from Corona.

I think a single drop of bleach on a lot of water is ok, but I really don’t know.
It’s moot, we’re not getting to that point

In the small chance that VP Pence is a lurker please make this our testing algorithm for outpatient testing:
Fever plus upper respiratory symptoms....
Perform Flu test (rapid - results in minutes)
If Positive, treat flu and stop there
If Negative, perform Corona virus test and have patient quarantine at home until results return.

I had heard one of those razor blade q-tips that are inserted into the urethra during an STD check
I didn't test positive, but the guy doing it told me to come back often since I live in an active area

the national media going into overdrive with coronavirus coverage may have played a part in the increased interest

Just for the record, using bleach to disinfect drinking water is a perfectly valid thing to do. It would not be my first choice, but in a survival situation and in the proper ratio, it can work (and not kill you). That said, I hope anyone attempting to do this researches it thoroughly and understands what they're doing.

WaWaWeeWa, what do you do for a living? I'm sure it's somewhere in here but I'm not searching.
Like your suggested algorithm.
(You should put it on twitter and tag Trump and Pence and everyone like TD did for Honkus)

Yeah and that doesn't make it more grave of a situation. We're in full fear mongering mode right now.
