The New York Stock Exchange is preparing for the possible escalation of the novel coronavirus crisis that might include closing the trading floor in Lower Manhattan, according to Fox Business. Should the outbreak of COVID-19 escalate into a global pandemic, as is expected, then markets and firms are concerned that traders and other employees might not be able to get to work.

If the NYSE closes before school districts start closing en masse, I call bullshite. That's someone trying to stop the market slide.

wtf why? There arent any specific ct findings for this virus

100%. China got so far behind on testing they were using CT scans to diagnose. The history plus findings are pretty classic.

Radiological findings

I think pulmonary edema includes bronchial thickening but I honestly don't remember differentials for diagnosis. you probably know better than me Cosmo.

There is a laundry list of things that do that. Good ole pulmonary edema being the most common

You are right there are other things that can cause a ground glass appearance but I’m describing a situation where the cases are coming in too fast and there isn’t time to wait on testing. If the patient has a history of fever, dry cough, and those findings on chest CT then you treat them like they have coronavirus, you don’t wait for the test results unless you can get them in an hour.

Will be interesting to see what travel looks like this upcoming week. Supposed to fly into ATL.

I’ll make sure to have a bottle of hand sanitizer at the ready and avoid being as close to peeps as possible.

I got stuck in Atlanta last week. The airport and the plane are just full of people coughing all over each other. I got the flu "allegedly" a day after I got home.

That’s a little confusing... While I don’t necessarily disagree, if you want the best chance to stop the spread here, you would cut off travel from all Asian countries and now the likes of Italy.

I agree those are more crucial than Mexico right now. Unless he knows something we don’t know.

But it honestly doesn’t matter if we already have community spread. We would know that if the CDC was doing extensive testing

You would hope so... But I honestly don’t trust the info he is getting after we’ve seen the CDCs frick ups.

And in before “Trumps a racist”

Do you feel like we should be moving to mitigation? I think containment is a lost cause and mitigation would put our resources to better use. We have already allowed self imposed quarantine for exposure so it’s not a far jump.

People need to follow basic Flu response..

Wash hands regularly, cough into sleeve, if sick, stay home, don’t group up, etc...

If Hong Kong with 9m people and sharing a border with mainland can contain this thing, the US should be able to pretty easily.

I asked a friend today, who is a NP, if they were doing any precautions prior to certain patients coming in... If they have flu like symptoms, not allowing them in or the likes, and she said no.

Wife says same thing, but added they all get swabbed for flu.

I don’t know. I don’t have anymore information than y’all do. My gut tells me it’s too far gone if they already have cases popping up that they can’t trace.

I agree with lsut that everyone needs to follow general precautions.

I think we need to start widespread testing South Korea style to identify the populations that are at risk for outbreaks so that we can prepare the healthcare workers in that area.

Yea that’s reassuring. And if South Korea can keep their mortality rate low and not overwhelm their hospitals I think we can all breath a little easier. No pun intended.

I sure as hell hope, but like you pointed out a few posts ago... The CDC, who is supposed to be the beacon of health world wide really screwed up here.

Incompetence to the uptenth degree. And this will turn political, but this isn’t Trumps fault. This is bureaucrats

For fricks sake. Is there anything that they have gotten right. I feel like if they didn’t even exist we would be in the exact same position we are in now. Maybe better because we would have the test kits everyone else is using.

I couldn’t be more disappointed in them. And I thought highly of them before this all went down.

Who does the CDC report through? The entire leadership should be fired immediately.
