She said meet her at sonic, you’ll be taking an icu bed.

But seriously, study after study shows admission criteria for ICUs vary widely across the country. People are routinely discharged from the entire hospital with unstable vitals. "Serious condition" is subjective, so to insinuate every single serious condition would require an ICU bed is hogwash. It's that simple.

What do you take issue with in my post? Be specific.

Everything

A fever is an abnormal vital, is it not?

Abnormal? yes. Unstable? Not really

quote:

Difficulty breathing due to pneumonia is an unstable vital, is it not?

Maybe, but oxygen saturation or respiratory acidosis is a better measure. Your post didn’t say anything about difficulty breathing.

No “difficulty breathing” is a complaint. A respiratory rate of 40 would be an unstable vital sign and would definitely get someone an icu bed.

This study doesn’t say what you think it does.

I’m not insinuating shite, I’m stating facts on occupied ICU beds available at a large hospital. Yes there are times the census gets low, but something like this with a 10 day or longer quarantine stay would overwhelm the system. If you decide to use one 12 bed unit to house the China virus peeps, even if it’s 1 patient , you’ve just cut your available ICU beds in half.

Hong Kong and Singapore now reporting 111 confirmed cases, 1 death, 16 recovered, 14 critical. These are the numbers to watch over the next two weeks.

But but but a few numbnuts on Tigerdroppings said every serious condition is, by definition, in ICU.

Man you are reaching so hard.

If you want to get picky let’s just take the 10% of cases that are “critical” in Hong Kong and Singapore. Would you agree that they are in the ICU?

That means that if a million people get this in the US that’s every ICU bed with no room for other illnesses. There were 22-33 million flu cases this year. If it is half as infectious as the flu then run 10% of that number.

And you’ve just proved my point. Wednesday morning he’s in the icu and listed as “serious”. Moves out of the ICU then magically his condition is upgraded to “Fair”.

I couldn't imagine being stuck in a complete county-wide quarantine like that.

I don’t think it’s contrarian, you just don’t see the big picture very well, you’re trolling or you don’t have enough experience.

The good thing is the military has a contingency plan for this type of thing. The bad thing is it takes us longer to react on our own soil than it does abroad.

It might be because you've been so condescendingly smug throughout this entire thread. At least Vol is speaking from his experience as a Burger King manager.

, nice research. Nevermind the fact Scalise was readmitted to the hospital due to an infection in July of 2017. He was in ICU, then discharged, but remained in serious condition.

I'm getting tired of the winning here. All I said pages ago is that it is unwise to group EVERY serious condition as if it's an ICU case. Should have known by now that any positive spin is frowned upon by you and a few others, but I didn't expect that statement of fact to be so controversial.

You think patients with a fever are unstable

Face it, you are reaching for explanations to fit your narrative because you anchored so firmly to the idea that this was no big deal that it would be embarrassing to back track now.

As you know by now, I think a travel ban everywhere is the only way to help, but a travel ban everywhere is far too draconian.

I won’t feed the troll anymore. I’m glad nobody took up him up on his ban bet. It’s been entertaining watching him squirm the last few pages.
