Taking advantage of a drunk girl is 100% rape and very illegal.

She “estimated that she was a 5 or 6 out of 10” on the intoxicated scale

Consenting to 2 guys does not equate consenting to 6 guys. Additionally, even if someone initially consented to sex, that consent can also be withdrawn at any point during the sexual act.

Oh shut the frick up dude, You have no idea what she did or didn't do, and you don't hold her to the same bullshite standard you hold the men to. Women are either equal or they aren't. Pick one.

When it's made up accusation by a regretful whore Actually fricking up other's lives because you regret your poor choices isn't all that funny

I'm only going off of what's been reported.

Why do you say that? Yes, women are equal. But what does that have to do with the topic at hand.

Not the entirety of what's been reported.

Why does your mind automatically go to the entire thing being made up? How often do you believe false rape accusations happen?

It didn't "automatically" go there, the entirety of what's come out makes me think that.

Enough that I don't automatically believe all accusers, which aligns pretty well with innocent until proven guilty.

Ok so what’s been reported, she had a threesome, they’ve stopped when asked. When you mentioned 5/6 men you’re making it sound as if the men took shifts, that’s not what was reported

All were intoxicated. So what’s the legal ruling here? Are we gonna have to make it a legal requirement to check our BAC prior to having sex now?

And the fact that NONE of them piped up about it being wrong is also horrible and wrong of these guys outside of just drunk kids being dumb.

At least one of them took screenshots of the conversations and provided it to her and/or her attorney, which is a lot more than nothing.

It was also from 2-5am right? Safe to say most of the people on the group were either asleep or not paying attention to their phones. The people participating in the actual conversation seem to be frickheads for several reasons, but the rush to condemn all the silent people in the text group is premature.

wtf. So the bar for drunk vs “sober enough” is the ability to smash some buttons on a phone? Do you think at all about what you are posting?

Fair, but I think these things should actually be taken seriously and go to trial. Too many times, that doesn't even happen.

Dude...have you ever been drunk? I have been drunk plenty of times and I still had the ability to text in coherent sentences.

No thanks. This case is a perfect example of one that shouldn't ahve that kind of effort wasted.

You don't have to check BAC level. But you can tell in general, how drunk someone is. Bartenders can look at someone and know they need to be cut off. You can look at a friend and know you need to take their keys so they don't try and drive home. In the same sense, you can look at someone and tell they are too drunk to be trying to have sex with them.

. woman at Cornell did not consider herself a rape victim until she saw people making fun of her for being a slut.

She went to her "big sister" in her sorority and confessed that she had been a slut. Then while texting one of the men she reassured him that she enjoyed the first part of it and nothing illegal had happened.

Later, she texted him that she was traumatized. Not by the sex, but because everyone was laughing at her.

One week after her "rape," she was mad that she got disinvited from a party at the frathouse of her "rapists"!!!!!!!

Only a few days later, she decided that she was a "rape victim." Nobody would laugh at her anymore! She went from an object of ridicule and shame to a hero.

What a shock

Called it

This is the thing everyone defending these guys is missing. Spin it how you want with consent and her agreeing. Sending snap chat out inviting 57 of your friends to come and have sex with this drunk/high girl is not regular dumb kid behavior. That is disgusting and wrong in a lot of ways. Whether she “agreed” or not CLEARLY inviting your whole pledge class to take advantage of a drunk girl goes outside the lines of acceptably behavior. It’s also weird as frick and disgusting.

And the fact that NONE of them piped up about it being wrong is also horrible and wrong of these guys outside of just drunk kids being dumb.

Preach. Whether what they did was legal or not, all of these dudes are pieces of shite. I know none of my fraternity brothers would have done anything like this when we were in school. If my son acted like this in the future, I would feel like a failure as a father. This is the perfect example of just because it is something you can do and is legal, doesn't mean you should do it.

There are distinct differences between the two. In the Duke case, one of the guys had PROOF that he wasn't at the house when the alleged incident occurred. He was still charged. There was no DNA evidence to back up any of the claims.

Here, you have a girl who was drunk and drugged with text messages that point directly to the crime. I have no sympathy for those guys.
