A utilities company used imminent domain on my family’s farm land several decades ago.

Didn’t want all of their land, so it ended up being sectioned so the remaining land is essentially useless now.

I think offered like .10 on the dollar an acres.

Highway robbery.

the guy doesn't want to sell that is his right. The mixed use development is a purely commercial enterprise and is not a reason to use eminent domain and force the guy off the property.

Coral Gables can go frick themselves

With that being said, what a nightmare of a living situation that guy now has. What a shame.

The city has been that way for at least 40 years with code compliance bullshite. They cited him for a nonpermitted cheap carport he put in his driveway to keep construction materials from hitting his car.

OT needs to get this guy funded. And figure out a way to crap on the developer.

And let’s cut the crap with eminent domain terms. This is just garden variety theft from some guy who isn’t bothering anyone.

That would be a GoFundMe I’d contribute to

this was the first thought I had. I stayed to the end to see if they mentioned a gofundme.

Honestly, I don't hate the look of the house in the middle of it either. If he cleaned up his yard some it doesn't stand out as bad as I thought it would either and the developer, other than wanting to building something 5 stories, could leave it alone and move about their day.

But chances are he couldn’t replace his home 2x value where he is. You know how the market is today. He should be made whole and provided a place of his choosing at fair value bc no doubt that property is worth a lot.

Can he sue them for any damages to his property?
