Just doesn’t seem like a high rise senior living facility in the middle of the part of Metairie where a hotel couldn’t even support. That location is shite for something like that and Al Jr is just trying to milk the boomers
Yep

There is a lot of poor information in this thread.

Yes, because it literally says"

Was this a holiday inn at some point? Or am I thinking of something else.

Best Western, not Holiday Inn.

A similar-looking round hotel on the West Bank is a Holiday Inn.

$3k a month in a shite location of Metairie in a 16 floor 50+ year former hotel owned by a guy that grew up with a silver spoon and never really worked a day in his life and is now preying on the boomers.

Yeah frick that cheesy douchebag

There’s several of these facilities already Uptown and a couple in Old Metairie. I wouldn’t even consider locking my parents up in a place like this

Are there not going to be renovations?

What does the interior even look like?

Poydras House has been around for 200 years and they have made a few upgrades.

I assume there are codes to be met. The OP mentions a company out of Tennesee that runs and operates these sort of facilities. I’m still skeptical because it’s Al Jr

The only time I’ve ever been in that building was about 25 years ago for a meeting that my dad took me with him, it was on the 17th floor. Thats all I can say about that.

No clue but their are others in the region with better amenities and green space that aren’t 17 stories tall

$3K/month for a 1 bedroom apartment??

The Lambeth House in New Orleans (which had like the biggest COVID outbreak with a number of deaths when COVID first happened here) is similar. It's like $2900/month (and if it's a couple, it's like another $1400 per month). And they have a $295,000 entry fee which is said to be up to 90% refundable. So you're not buying anything, but you're paying a huge entrance fee to live there in addition to big-time rent per month. It's a retirement home that also has an assisted-living option.

You mean Poydras Home? A few upgrades? Try new multi million dollar buildings. It makes the Copeland Tower look like the London Lodge.

There are assistance living places a lot more expensive than that. You can count 90 meals with that too.

Assumed the 3 meals and nurse checking in a few times was considered assisted living.

In Independent Living, no care is provided to resident unless resident has their own care provider inside their apartment. Management may or may not live on site but they usually aren’t allowed to administer care, only call for it.

AL and Memory Care are staffed differently and usually have at least an LPN on staff 24/7 to administer medications.

Actually Omega Hospital is basically right next to it. I use to work there.

I'm going through this decision with my 89 yo Mother. After effects of a stroke among other issues has her unable to live alone. Plan is to move Mother to my brother and his wife's empty nest home in Atlanta, but it's a big decision. This is an issue more and more people will face as the boomers reach 80 and 90. Throw in the advancements in medicine and people are living longer...if you can call it that in some cases. The stress and anxiety can be crushing on all parties. My research shows there has been a move to allow the elderly to stay in their homes and bring in the care. A lot of options have opened up, but the finances can be large.

Can you just imagine how many kilos of coke ole Al snorted on the 17th floor back in the day?

Too bad Legends is no longer there, some of those old timers could’ve hit on some of the divorcees.

Now I guess they’ll have to still rely on Moe’s Chalet...
