where did the bullets hit the kid? i think i've seen a different video here that showed the kid moving away from the officer. the kid was complying with the officer.. but slowly.
i'm not really sure the officer should have even used the taser. talk about escalating a situation.
sad fact is that near 50% of cops in the country are bad at their job

No.
The cop even all but told him that just comply and you won't get a ticket. He told him he stopped others but didn't issue citations.

Refusing to comply with a lawful request.
Folks, regardless of if you think it is common courtesy, flashing your brights is against the law in Michigan. This guy didn't pass it. Cops may not have even had a hand in pushing for passing it.
And he even said he didn't issue citations for the other guys he pulled over to the kid. It's just a routine traffic stop, tells the perp to stop it, and let's them go.
Part of a routine traffic stop is checking for warrants and insurance.
But yeah, the cop is tuning his lights bright as a trap

If anything the cop was the one with the traffic violation

The cop was the one violating the traffic law if his headlights were bright enough to look like high beams. But I know laws don't apply to cops.
Either way with the cop knowing his headlights were too bright he there was absolutely no reason for him to stop the guy other than him wanting too to exert his power

Cop repeated "license, registration, and proof of insurance PLEASE" like 20 times. That's some hardcore white privilege right there.

Link to this law, and link to the aftermarket lights you could install that exceeds the lumen limit without brights.

Well, that or.....the law written by the legislature.
What what he should do? Ignore enforcing some laws until he gets a new install? I think holding off on giving actual tickets and just issuing warnings like he did is a pretty reasonable compromise that flies in the face of the assertion of "him wanting to assert his power."
All the kid had to do was hand over his license and insurance, as is standard in ANY traffic stop, and once the cop saw it was clean the kid would have gone on with no ticket just like the other drivers the cop pulled over that night for the same reason.

what good was that family doing for him? since he can't respect lawful authority...

Verlander is obviously trolling. He is making up laws and discrediting actual laws made by the legislature. He is part of the "I am not accountable for my actions" culture. Shame.

In my opinion, the cop -- and other cops -- need to start thinking about how badly they really need to press an issue. This could have been avoided had the cop just thought, "Maybe I'll have bigger fish to fry than this." It sounds to me as if the cop is a bit of a temper-thrower. No one wants to hear him defend his "new vehicle's lights being brighter" slant.
The kid was dumb, too. Absolutely dumb. His outcome likely becomes much much more compassionate than dying. Just comply with the angry fricks and sue them later. The kid and the cop just happened to meet each other a second or two off of space and time...and then this never happened for either.

Do you read the news? LA State Police make massive drug bust weekly on I-10 and 12 by stopping cars with a tail light out or expired inspection sticker. He WAS looking for a bigger fish to fry. That is exactly why he let the others off that night with just a warning.
Or, do you just want cops to not do their jobs? Bitch at what they do, then bitch when they do nothing. Awesome.

I don't feel sorry for the family that kid was lust like his parents and I hope he didn't breed before he died

I agree, but that is how they are trained to respond. So who do you blame?

50% is probably a pretty safe assumption but I don't know that's is fair to blame the cop. They aren't given the tools to handle things like this and police department doesn't exactly advertise that they have poor training. Most cops go through they entire career with a false sense of security, simply because they are ignorant. Ignorance is actually bliss sometimes.
I think we can all agree on a few things
- People shouldn't have to comply with orders from a cop, simply because they are cop.
- Cops can't just walk away from some annoying kid who refuses to listen to lawful orders.
So what was he supposed to do? His training is what fricked him over. He escalated the situation with a taser by using it as means to intimidate and that's what bit him in the arse. When that kid decided he had enough, the cop panicked and shot the kid out of fear. The fear was genuine, make no mistake about it. I'm willing to bet this cop used his taser to intimidate people without issue, dozens times. He's probably never fired his service weapon outside of a pistol range.

What should they do? Cops in this day and age aren't out to escalate and shoot people, so best believe if it happens they deserve it

It would be ridiculous to believe that cops are out screwing with people, hoping that they get to kill someone. However, I'm sure it has happened. I personally know a BRPD cop who was tickled pink he got to shoot at someone, or so he claims.
If a cops walks up to me out the blue and demands I follow his commands, why should I have to listen to him? If he shoves his gun in my face, well that's a different story all together. I like being right, but not dead right.

Kind of is. If you drive at me with brights on, I am going to flash you, not to be mean, just to remind you that they are on and to turn them off. It's not like we have vehicle to vehicle communication. For some reason this officer decided to pull the guy over for that.
Now once pulled over the kid should have complied. Though I do not think he should have been pulled over in the first place.
