Who do these people think they are? It seems like I am constantly getting caught behind a dump truck or 18 wheeler that is driving in the left lane with an orange sign telling traffic that they can’t be followed. I wish I had the power that these people think that they have.

#1. GET OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!!
#2. You will still be held liable for any damages if you dump rocks on my vehicle.

Are these signs posted as a scare tactic or something?

You have been warned of potential hazards. Follow at own risk...

They can definitely still be liable no matter what warning sign they have.

False. Got windshield fricked by a rock truck. Called number and complained. They balked at first but then i said my brother was a lawyer and it will cost me nothing to take them to small claims court. Luckily they didnt call my bluff. Got a $200 check in a week.

so if i put a "frick it, might be drunk" sticker on the hood of my car, so cars in front of me can read it... i can mitigate all personal responsibility when i plow into them?

I wouldn’t suggest putting a sign like that on your vehicle FYI

Yea I’d still threaten them and sue if necessary if they broke my windshield. I had to pass a bunch of these trucks on my way to NOLA yesterday.

I’d imagine the signs are half hoping to make people think they aren’t liable, and half just trying to avoid incidents to keep everyone happy

Those signs are a friendly warning that aggregate may fall out of their trailer, and they will not be liable for any damage to your vehicle.

Pop a xanax and calm your tits. Your destination isn't any more important than theirs.

No, not they are not.

They are for idiots that follow the vehicle in front of them while texting and dont realize they entered a construction zone.

The keep back 500' signs are the attempt to have you not try and get your windshield fixed.

Although you must prove the rock came from inside the bed and not just kicked up from the roadway by the tires.
