Construction on I-10 to Texas ( Question)

Making a trip to Texas to rescue a dog. Is the construction still insanely bad from Lake Charles to Beaumont? If so, I may take an alternate route. As it is, I hate that LC bridge.

I make the drive once a month. Try to avoid non-peak hours and it should be pretty smooth. BUT, one wreck will take an hour from you.

Seems like Construction has been going on for 20 years around Beaumont.

Worst parts are at the LA/TX state line and the entire stretch from Beaumont to Winnie. That stretch flat sucks. I take 90 into Houston out of Beaumont to avoid it.

Best advice you will find on this thread. Keep an eye on one of the traffic apps if you stay on 10. Like someone said earlier, 1 wreck and you are screwed

I know this route well. My Mom used it to avoid traffic when I was a kid. I am going to Hillister, Texas. So this route will not work. I could go 49 and across through Alexandria and Eunice but it takes nearly an hour longer.

Download Waze App, if traffic is bad around Beaumont, get off at Orange TX Hwy 87 exit, head south then take Hwy 73 to Winnie Tx, basically it’ll take you south of Beaumont

If you're really concerned and have the time, take the Coast route.
