I went there, sister went there, dad went there, uncle went there. I'd consider sending my children there, it's a lot nicer than when I went, although I hear it's gotten a lot more culture then when I went. Like, apparently some student's have children and shite. That bothers me.

Do it. Great school. Both of mine have had nothing but good experiences (9th and 5th graders).

Both of mine have been there since kindergarten. No school is perfect but we've been very happy there and we've never regretted putting our kids there.

It's not true that everyone there is wealthy and snobby. There are definitely people there like that, but I find the majority are very nice and down to earth.

My daughter has been going there since Kindergarten and is now in 2nd grade. She likes it, which is what matters most to me. If you're in Baton Rouge, go for it.

Yep, some of us are snobby, but not wealthy.

I've never heard of a single student having a child in the 12 years we've been there. There is no "culture" of teen parents there.

Are you trying to say that U-High is a better high school than BRMHS? I get that some of the kids are weird and they don't have major sports but come on

I'll have to double check but I think Uhigh had a higher average ACT than BRMHS last time the stats were released (2015 I think)

Also, there is a lot more to a school than just academics and I think it's in those categories where BRMHS falls a little short. Now, the fact that there is no tuition is a huge plus.

ETA: Updated ACT scores from 2017:

BRMHS 25.4
U HIGH 24.6

I still stand by my initial opinion, though. Even with BRMHS having the higher ACT, the other stuff gives Uhigh the edge

Baton Rouge high has tons of team sports, my cousin lettered in ballet, xylophone, and butterfly collecting

Sorry that you're poor

I didn't mean that everyone there acts that way. In fact, I know a ton of nice families that send their kids to U High. All I'm saying is that, similar to Episcopal, I get the impression there are a lot of rich, snobby country club people there as well.

I will say that it is harder to achieve the ACT scores that BRMHS does with 400+ students in each grade compared to much smaller class sizes at the other schools mentioned. But I get what you are saying. Academically BRMHS is on par with the top schools in BR but lacks in the overall high school experience.

Baton Rouge High is a great school, but I think you have to keep in mind that, unlike BRMHS, Uhigh is producing those scores from students who did not have to academically qualify to get in the school.
