The long the shutdown last, the longer the extra $600 lasts. Liberals don’t want the shutdown to end cause they know they’ll lose that extra $2400 a month when it does.

My boss is what you’d probably describe as liberal. He’s of the opinion that it’s premature to start opening things back up. I guarantee that he’s not getting a dime in stimulus money.

On the other hand, I know a handful of hardcore MAGA types that were absolutely elated to get their $1200.

This is some lazy, partisan nonsense.

We should not be making decisions for the whole to save the few.

My #1 is always that there is a balancing test. You balance the health and economic impact of partial or total shutdown vs the health and economic impact of opening.

That said, I think we're right to reject the idea that the needs of the majority should rule over the few. First, so much of America is based on that. The entire idea of a Bill of Rights is a guarantee that a majority can't touch certain things.

Also, let's be honest about where this logic leaves us. Retirees take more money from the majority than they bring in. If this is about the needs of the many, they are one of several populations where a pure need based analysis tells you to eliminate them.

We embrace the idea that the individual is worth fighting for. That's a good thing. Again, that's not saying that we should not balance things in making decisions, because we should. I'm just saying this needs of the many argument isn't America and taken to its logical extension, it's the base argument for eugenics.

We reject it for a reason. The correct road is more complex.

More of your usual. Skipping over parts. Being contrarian and starting entirely different discussions while name calling.

I wasn't person to say we were "woefully behind" (and then bring up countries later) or even the person to state that post bringing this up was "...was very logical even though it didn't fit your preconceived "liberals love this" narrative...".

Since you didn't realize "woefully behind" in original or any response was in reference to countries Tell me then what specifically meets testing goal in your below comment to not be so "woefully behind" in testing (or currently at half our required speed as stated in your thoughtful follow up). To interject yourself you had to have had some idea of what you think meets this and not have to use cars and speeds in follow up response.

Liberals would trust the government more with Obama as President. No doubt.
Conservatives would be more skeptical. No doubt.

The liberal swing of trust would be a greater range than the conservatives. No doubt.

I didn't skip anything. Go re-read the posts. And I didn't name call either. I asked if you were retarded because your posts imply you are.

Except it wasn't. His follow up didn't say anything about us being behind any country in testing.

Again, are you fricking retarded? It's very clear. Read it slowly or have your handler read it to you.

I guess I get the political reason why they do but I can't understand being glad people are being locked in and hoping it drags out a long time. What a sucky way to live

Bc it’s not a real lockdown. There are people out and about all over. It’s not uncomfortable except if your job is in jeopardy.
