Condé Nast’s food media brand Epicurious has stopped publishing recipes with beef in them, it announced Monday. “In an effort to encourage more sustainable cooking, we won’t be publishing new beef recipes on 'Epicurious,' ” the company stated.

“Beef won’t appear in new 'Epicurious' recipes, articles, or newsletters. It will not show up on our homepage. It will be absent from our Instagram feed,” the publication added.

The announcement was made now, Epicurious said, because beef consumption had begun to rise recently, after a decades-long trend downward.

The brand assured its readers it does not hate beef and said; “our shift is solely about sustainability, about not giving airtime to one of the world’s worst climate offenders.”

Is this the new large form narrative everyone is going to take?

Beef abstention? Because you start fricking with people's food and I predict that is one place people will draw a line.

Fish: wild caught fishing is commercially unsustainable over the long haul if it is done at high levels (which would be necessary if beef goes away).

Fruit and Vegetables: A lot of fuel and energy goes into the level of farming necessary to feed our growing population.

Of all the climate problems in the world, we pick on beef?

Umm... I think this is a private company making decision on their own... You know capitalism.. and if the no beef campaign doesn't work they'll only hurt their own business... Government got nothing to do with this but please try and drag it into every conversation

All of Condé Nast's properties are woke as far as I know. I rather enjoyed Ars Technica, one of their tech sites, until they infused politics into everything.

Unfortunately, the large majority in this country won't draw any line, well maybe one with a dry erase marker so they can erase it and move it after being outraged on Twitter and anonymous message boards

Yeah, you're right, the timing of this announcement has absolutely nothing to do with uncle Joe's plan to reduce beef consumption that was released just a few days ago.

Ummm, why do you think they’re doing this? You think it’s a coincidence they say this 2 days after Biden’s dumbass statement?
