And I've talked about this to several people who live in Lakeview and they seem to be OK with it the way it is.
Most have little kids and are not too pissed that the streets are in such poor shape. They say it keeps the cars from running through their neighborhoods going too fast and is safer for kids in the long run.
If you go faster than 20 on many of the residential streets out there, you take a risk of front end damage.

Sorry, I believe my own eyes and my rear end and the excruciating traffic jams because of the horrible roads before I believe you. Maybe it’s not me who needs to get out more?

Ironically enough, it's the pumps that cause the poor street conditions. Pumping leads to less groundwater. Less groundwater leads to subsidence. Subsidence leads to shitty roads. Shitty roads leads to more flooding. More flooding leads to more pumps. It's a never ending cycle where the city is literally digging their own gave.
