Right like that guy who murdered those old people on Highland in BR.

I hope Beauregard Parish is able to get the Beauregard statue if it gets moved. Just makes the most sense.

You know what pisses me off with moving the statues ? I would have to imagine the officials are afraid to go against a certain crowd for fear of all hell breaking loose.

Jackson means more too this city than he does to the US. His statue isn't in place because of his Indian affairs approach, it is for saving the city.
Agree but it's a double standard. Should one groups feelings be more important over another's simply because they do not represent a majority?

Who is paying to take these down?
Taxpayers. Same people who fund those Louisiana Purchase cards.
Same song, different day. This country is bowing to the pressure of trash.

That's gonna look real stupid when they change the name of the parish.

I'm melting my arse off over this. How could it come to the point where we let our inner cities turn into 3rd world hell holes? How could we let these people be so ignorant and lawless? Might as well give a baboon the keys to a Ferrari and say "drive safe little guy."

Hence the reasons the laws were slowly changed in the past few years in order to accommodate.
And what laws would that be? The federal law that still continues to protect the statues?

Actually, you most certainly can buy something that's not for sale.
But even if they can't be sold, the citizens of NO should try and buy them. Make a stink about it and give this obviously rat's arse city council hell over the issue.
This BS is a prime example of the lowest common denominator in America dictating to those of us that foot the bill. It's not going to stop until enough people stand up to it

Taxpayers.
Allegedly that is not the case. Supposedly a private donor is footing the cost.

Why has no one taken this to a state/federal court? How are these monuments not protected under a historic preservation act or something.

If it hasn't been done a legal challenge is necessary.
Most people aren't willing to stand up on this issue because it's just some statues of some dead white people. This BLM will not stop here; they are going to keep on getting offended and desteouing what offends them (and the masters pulling the strings will keep getting richer and buying politicians that will keep the whole thing moving along,)

No fricking way is it gonna cost $170k. That is just comically low

Referring to the nuisance ordinance passed in the 90s
