Maybe they've replaced telephone rings because either answering machines answer or no two rings tones sound the same.

There's a popular sports radio show in Birmingham that every week they have the panel go through their "upset alerts", games that have big underdogs, that they feel may win the game.
Even though they warn the listeners in advance, for some stupid reason, after every pick, they pipe in siren sounds. Frankly,it pisses me off every time, so mostly I'll turn the channel during that portion of the show.

I've had dogs. None of them barked regarding tv but the collies would growl low and get their hackles up if something went on. That's the response we wanted. Let us know. And be prepared.
They were all too willing to do the teeth bared jump at the door thing if stranger was not welcomed.
The funny thing was if a dog was on tv barking. Lassie.
