DUI legislation tries to remove the role of the attorney until it gets to felony territory.

It's only a matter of time now I'd wager.
MADD will now say "It's starting to become the nationwide standard..." and start the lobbying.

Uber/Lyft don't exist everywhere

I wonder how many highway fatalities are at the hands of someone with between .05-.08 BAC. I'd be willing to wager a very small fraction.

Utah is going to send even more tourist money towards Colorado with this new law, book it.

Not sure what it's like in Louisiana but you can be charged with a DUI in FL for a .05 as well if the officer believes your normal faculties are impaired fwiw.

Yeah and if you live in places like Mississippi you could be a 20 minutes drive from the nightlife or restaurants. That gets pricey.

Meh. Not every state is as fricked up as Louisiana.
You believe that?
They are all money hungry.

Well that's fricked up.
It's always an interesting day when a legislature makes new criminals out of former law abiding citizens.

With all of the ride sharing apps, Uber, Lyft, Taxi , friends why would anyone drive even after 1-2 drinks now days.
Because I'm not even close to the legal limit or a danger on the road after 1-2 drinks.
Unless I am ordering double barrel-proof whiskeys straight or something, I suppose.

You should note there's a giant difference between having a buzz and blowing a certain number. It's very possible to be .08 and not be buzzed. It's one of the fricked up parts of the law.

I will believe they are serious about safety and not revenue when they ban cell phone use in cars. Face facts, a texting driver is WAY more dangerous than some guy that had two beers after work.

Just a government trying to watch out for it's people right?

Exactly. And slam 5 of them in 30 mins.

that's anywhere, and although you would probably defeat the charge, the cost and associated headaches and insurance ramifications would be as bad as if you had been convicted

Do they even sell booze in Utah?
