Coming to a speed trap or border patrol near you - new Chevy PPV

You may want to commit the light signature to memory.

2021 Chevy Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle revealed with slew of upgrades
It's got a cop motor, cop tires, cop brakes and cop suspension
The PPV and SSV may look similar, but the PPV gets a host of mechanical changes for improved performance. The 5.3-liter V8 doesn't have higher output than stock (355 horsepower, 383 pound-feet of torque), but it does pick up the engine rocker covers from the Camaro ZL1, which Chevy says provide better crankcase ventilation and allow the engine to handle high cornering loads for longer. That's important, since Chevy also lowered the Tahoe PPV and gave it retuned springs, shocks and anti-roll bars for better handling.
The Police Pursuit Vehicle is shown above, and besides the lights and push bar that would be added by upfitters, the PPV has a couple of exterior distinctions. It, as well as the SSV, gets the Tahoe Z71's front bumper and fascia for an improved approach angle, which can come in handy when hopping curbs or driving over medians as necessary. It also picks up the front skid plate from the Z71. Unique to these specialty Tahoes are the 20-inch steel wheels wrapped in specially developed Firestone Firehawk Pursuit tires
Braking duty is handled by six-piston Brembo front calipers with 16-inch rotors.

Why are we spending money on pimped out and militarized police forces.

It’s a good looking truck.
The Tahoe has always been a great police vehicle, but also far more expensive than an Impala, Taurus, Explorer, or Charger.
I don’t think many towns out there will make it out of covid with their budgets intact.

Karen needs one of these before the travel ball season begins.

Karen can’t afford the new Tahoe. That’s why she has an Infiniti QX70.

Gonna take A lot of speeding tickets to pay for that thing

My thoughts exactly, except for the militarized part.

I’ve never understood the need for such expensive police cars, besides it being just another way for the government waste money.

I don't understand why this is a priority for the police force. The only person who gives a shite is the officer driving it, and to be honest I think that recruits to the people you don't want on the force. I don't want a 22 year old who has exhausted all other options in life to decide maybe he'll be a cop because "look at the gear they get" to be the one serving the community.
If there are more safety features that are absolutely essential so be it, but I don't see why a city/town needs to spend so much money, even if it's at pretty large discount, on souped up rigs like these.
I'd love to be dunked on and have my tune changed, but for most towns these purchases seem frivolous on the surface.

Because apparently, nothing says America these days like the excitement surrounding spending more and more money on government.
Conservatives never found a high tech military or police gadget that wasn’t worth spending on, and liberals never found a government program or regulation they weren’t super excited about, but the truth is, both are excited about spending money on government, and neither concern themselves with the size and scope of government in their lives, nor how much it costs to feed that beast.

Some of those speed traps to catch people going 35 in a 25 turn into 150 mph chases down mountainsides. Gotta be prepared.

I don’t think styling is a priority for most government uses.
Cops will use this because it’s durable and safe. Fire departments will use it because it has a higher payload than other SUVs. Border patrol will use the Z71 model because they tend to operate off road.

Unfortunately, a lot of cops (not all) are drawn to the profession because they like the authority. That gear and uniform helps mask other insecurities. Maybe the taxpayers spend too much on things like police vehicles when they should be spending more on compensation to help recruit more, better people.

Does Karen run from the cops that often?

Am I the only one who has a problem with cops driving more expensive rides, to buy and operate, then I do? I mean shite

In heavy duty police work, that Tahoe will be the most reliable, cheaper to service and longer lasting choice.

Sure man, just what the brown shirts need. They don’t have enough toys as it is.

Why do the armed forces recruit on TV and inline?

It's gotten ridiculous. My town of around 25k people has a police force with at least 20 EXTRA Tahoes not in use parked behind the station at any time. 2 fricking helicopters, a tank, and a myriad of portable camera stations they move around town. It is fricking ridiculous.
It's been brought up several times why we are paying an extra penny in local sales tax for the schools but the police department has all of this shite. The chief said they got every bit of the equipment by taking advantage of federal grant programs. If that's the case, fine. But I find it very hard to believe since the surrounding towns don't have anywhere near the toys and top of the line vehicles we do.
