Chattanooga

We have EPB fiber, kinda like LUS, but it's $70 a month for gig, not as cheap as google, but it's better than cable bullshite.

Comcast actually paid money to bad mouth our internet in Iron Man 3.

That's not all they did. I kept up with the whole saga as comcast tried everything to scare the residents there that this was the worst idea ever and sued the city a billion times trying to keep this from becoming a reality.

Anyone who cares about broadband should study the history of this.

Yeah it was ridiculous. AT&T, Charter, Dish, DirecTV, all of them together went after Chattanooga for attempting this. They tried to get state laws changed and such. I am glad they lost.

What gets me is that on one side we have Netflix, Hulu, amazon prime, etc and on the other side we have ISPs not wanting you to use bandwidth that you're paying for. ISPs want you to send/receive the occasional email and look up news here and there and thats it.
We're trapped when it comes ISPs. We have the locl all DSL provider which is the phone company and the cable company.

Cable companies are trying to make up for the money they are losing from people canceling their cable package. They know people for streaming everything now so they have to make their money somehow. They will make internet more expensive to make up for their losses.

Just checked comcrap and it says they are rolling out 300GB to Nashville and doing some tier stuff in Tucson and some southern states.

My usage is 25, 26, and 29 GB in the last three months and I am literally on the internet every minute I am home and there might even be a significant amount of pron usage in there. So, I have no problem if they want to stick it to CAD and his family streaming netflix 24/7.

I for one am ready to live in the United States of Google.

I know this will have a bad ending where I'm the slave to some robot and I live in a socialist collective, but whatever.

You're one of those people, huh?

it was ugly.

and ironic since their argument was they shouldn't be forced to compete against a city-run utility after they spent 2 decades paying off congress to write laws that made competition impossible

have you paid attention to how comcast responded to "The Gig"? instead of actually attempting to compete on speed or price they doubled down on sealing up "wifi hotspots" at all the businesses in town.

the catch? you can jump on the wifi for free at those places ONLY IF YOU HAVE COMCAST INTERNET.

and in an amusing twist, comcast is also ADDING UP USAGE AT WIFI HOTSPOTS to your data cap limit.

paige and others who are defending comcast really are clueless about how this company operates.

My favorite is them trying to run ads here making fun of EPB. They have gotten sued a few times for false advertising.

The ads they run just make me laugh.

After he stores the suit with that stupid kid in Northeast Tennessee and starts going to Florida. He stops in Chattanooga and uses the internet and complains about it being extremely slow. I think he was in the television station truck when he did it. It's been awhile since I saw that movie.
