It's helpful to not dismiss and dig deeper in case you are missing an easy fix.
My grandmother showed me a trick that always helps when the baby gets fusy. Lay the baby on it's back and slowly bring his/her knees up to the abdomen, make sure the diaper is on
FWIW we didn't get on formula until my first was 10 mos old.

hell you can ask 10 different doctors with 200 years total experience and get 10 different answers on shite like this

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm not looking for a cure because that's just not realistic.
Actually the real cure is Anise Seed tea. Our youngest was colic until we tried it.
Boil anise seeds in water til the water turns color. filter and store in the refrigerator. add it to their milk/formula. Easy home remedy.
However, I don't know about 2 weeks. Mine was a few months.
Google anise seed tea colic.

old school doctors will prescribe Bentyl, and you're baby will stop having colic

Anise & Colic
Drugs.com reports that anise is used medicinally to treat gas, bloating and to settle the digestive tract. It has also been used to treat psoriasis, cough, asthma and bronchitis. Drugs.com reports that no clinical evidence supports its uses for these conditions. What's more, the website for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration or warns that giving infants tea made with anise can cause serious illnesses. The FDA says that giving infants anise can result in seizures, vomiting, restlessness and rapid eye movement
I'll probably go ahead and pass on that.

I didn't read the thread, but it sounds like colic, it always starts and stops, just like you described.
I had two with it, it can be miserable. Not much you can do about it, shite the first one got all kinds of shite....nothing helped and it was the worst. The second we tried little and nothing worked.
I know this is hard but there is only one thing you can do........relax, when it is over, it is over, there is almost nothing to do about it. It only lasts a short while.
I think the most frustrating thing about it was acting like it surprised me, it happened every night and just expecting it seemed to help. Take turns with the wife, like an hour at a time.

I knew I would get a lot of "This cured our colic" answers on here but I knew I would also get some "This helped" answers and those are the ones I was looking for.
Our doctor said it best, everyone tries 100's of different things for colic and whatever was the most recent thing they tried when it goes away is the miracle cure when in all likely hood it just went away on its own.

I haven't read the whole thread, but mine - now 7 months - sleeps great. She was really colicky every night, about the time I got home from work until she finally went to sleep 9 or 930? It was miserable.
Until, we found the miracle blanket. Have you heard of it?

Sitting up seems to help her some, laying flat on her back is a no go for sure.
This could be acid reflux instead of colic.

So shitty.
Our youngest started at 7:00 every night and went nonstop until about 4:00. Nobody slept in our house for like 5 months.

^^^^THIS.... I would send my wife out of the house to go do things so she could take a break.... I would do that so I could go hunting the other days.

Mine turns 2 weeks at 12:23 today. He's not colic, but he's had one or two nights where nothing stopped the crying. It was awful. I don't know if I could take it for an extended period of time

Hopefully everything gets better. My wife does HORRIBLY without her sleep. Like anything less than 7 hours and she is borderline retarded.
As long as I get about 4 hours I'm good.
Either way, she is pretty awesome and daddy's girl.
I was born Sept 23 at 8:03 AM and she was born Sept 23 at 8:03 PM. She is definitely daddy's girl!

Mine son is 4 weeks today (our 1st), wife only slept 3 hours last night
Baby woke up @ 10:30 last night crying bloody murder, I changed him, rocked him, walked around with him, etc for an hour while cried. The wife decided to feed him and he stopped. He has some nights where he goes 3 hour sleep intervals and others that he goes 1 hour.
We have a glider that reclines, a 6 speed swing that plays music, and a vibrating rocker for him.
He has good & bad nights

I'd give my left nut (it hangs kinda low/not real serviceable anyway) for the chance, just one more time, to rock my little bundle of scream to sleep. Hated it at the time. She was colicky for a lil while. But I would seriously consider a partial genitalia-ectomy, or give up some other unnecessary appendage, for the chance, just one more time, to do that again.
She's 20 now. Starting law school pretty soon. Great student. Great sorority. Well grounded. Not given to much vice, like her old man was at that age. She's 12 hours away, and we still txt or talk pretty much every day. Granted, sometimes it's "hey dad, can you put some money in my acct pls.". I always do, and she always thanks me. If you're lucky, 20 years from now, you'll look at what was that little bundle of scream, and would make the same deal.

Oh trust me, I complain about the sleep now, but no matter the time of day looking down at her looking back up at me is the best feeling in the world.

Fine with me. You're the one with a colic baby. but by month 5 and only sleeping 3-4 hours a night, see if you won't try about anything and name one drug that doesn't have possible side effects.

Sounds like you already get it then.
For folks that require a good bit of sleep, it's a crappy situation. If you're one of those folks, just recognize that this too shall pass, and believe those that tell you there will come a day - in a gosh damn blink of an eye, no less - where there's not much you wouldn't give up to go back to those "miserable" nights one more time.
Hate to sound like some sad country song, but I promise you, I'm speaking absolute truth. While I'm very proud of my daughter's apparent direction, success as a student, and am very thankful that I've apparently succeeded in the greatest task ever entrusted to me - doing my part in raising a solid human being - damn, I'd give alot just to hold that child that was some 20 years ago.
Edit - nothing wrong w/medicating colic. Saw a poster say something to the effect of "name one drug that doesn't have one side effect". He's probably more right than wrong on that. While I wouldn't be for slipping an ambien in her milk, or going back to MY day (when parents just gave you paragoric....filled w/opium, i'm told), I'm sure there are PLENTY of old drugs out there, the side affects of which are known to be minutia.
Seems like we have ours symethicon (sp). Problem is, you're dealing with someone that can't talk. And you got no clue if they are hurting, or just being ornery. I do distinctly remember doing two things.....putting her car seat on top of the dryer, and turning it on, as the dryer vibrations and sound would lull her to sleep, and also actually putting her in the car at all hours, and driving her around. Which that one sucks even more, 'cause you have to get dressed and drive while losing sleep lol.

My three babies only slept on their stomach. I do not buy the crapola connect between SIDS and stomach sleepers.
My last child is the only one who was fed commercial formula, my other two had old time evaporated milk formula. The last child had one ear infection after another where the two older ones had nothing ever.
