Get a $25 dollar coffee maker, enjoy the hell out of it, tell your friends it's something new and trendy for hipster cred

Not bad, but I'd pay for the arse option on this model.

I have a grind and brew unit at home. K-cup thing at work. I gotta admit. It is nice having a consistent cup the K-cup gives. Mine has a metal filter that fines clog up and changes each brew.

I got a Cuisinart that has a 12-cup carafe on one side and a Keurig dispenser on the other.

Can you give a couple of examples of types and brands you would recommend please?

I still have my grandmothers SunBeam percolator and it does make a damn good cup. But it is labor intensive cleaning like the French press. I use it on the weekends when I'm home and want more than 1 cup.

Anything from Technivorm

If you are used to french pressed coffee then this is one of the few automatic makers that would satisfy you

I have a different model Ninja coffee maker than the one you linked, but I too set mine the night before and wake up to a fresh pot of coffee. I've had it for about 2 years now and I have no complaints.

My wife researches the CRAP out of shite before we buy. No heating plates ( burnt coffee ) so a thermal carafe is the best.
We tried one that cost twice as much as this one but returned it for this Mr. Coffee. Good reviews online and chaper. It's great so far 6 months in.

$60-70

The Franke BKON100. Its $12,800.00, but comes with free S&H.

I did pay $300 for a commercial machine to use at home. To put that in perspective, that $300 is roughly 8 to 10 times what entry level, mostly plastic Chinese coffee makers sold at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

This Franke costs almost 43x as much as MY machine.

Keurig + French press

I have a bunn that supposedly has the correct time to pour water over and get to the correct temperature. Takes too damn long.

I can't recommend Ninja products highly enough. I bought this one and it makes a damn fine cup of coffee. I guess this is the model above the one you linked.

Ninja coffee bar

You can make various sizes of drip coffee and you can use the attachment to make cappuccinos, etc. I stick with the drip coffee but the wife likes having the option of the frothy drinks.

So pay more to manually make his coffee? He is looking for drip to lessen the time.
