It's only a story because he was one of the co-founders of the company.

CM Punk's rumored salary is $3 million. That's the same amount Kevin Owens re-signed for. Tony Khan talks a lot but he's not paying up.

Keep in mind KO works waaaaay more dates than Punk (or anyone else in AEW). Punk only wrestles every other week or so, while KO is probably wrestling every week on tv plus ppvs along with the house shows.

He’s another one, in my opinion, better than Cody on the Mic.

By your logic, The Miz is a star because he was on reality TV.

But in reality, Rhodes is a star and that’s why he’s a cofounder of the company.

If he signs with WWE, he’s going to be in the top tier of paid wrestlers in that promotion. He’s likely going to make more money than everyone not named Brock or Roman. 5 mill is the absolute most and it’s still a gigantic win for Nick Khan, who btw is close with The Rock-the guy who loves Cody promos.

The real irony is, Dynamite may pop their biggest rating ever tomorrow over all this. Lots of us rasslin' fans are gonna tune in to see how they handle this, or even mention it.

shite Google Cody Rhodes right now. ESPN, the New York Post, TMZ covered this story. He’s a star. Only haters deny it.

I know you’re semi-trolling, but I’ll play along one more time. Go walk around any big public place with a picture of Cody Rhodes and a picture of Sheamus and see which one more people will recognize. He may be a star to the IWC, but Vince has made it clear that he doesn’t give a shite what that group thinks. He will legit sign Cody for however many millions and bury him in the midcard as a “frick you” to the “haters.”

I imagine he’s removed completely and maybe someone mentions him or Dustin gets in a feud with Lance Archer/ Dan Lambert-who’s going to have the biggest pop of the night.

Sheamus? Lol. Yeah who’s trolling now?
I’m not trolling at all. It’s simple facts this dude has more mainstream eyeballs on him than most wrestlers, including main event players like Rollins in WWE.

Hate all you want, but as stated before, the Steve Austin comeback story-arguably the GOAT- has been buried today by the Cody announcement. You’re still talking about it. You’re not doing that with “mid carders”

Now to switch gears slightly. Tony Khan dropped the ball. Matches that Cody didn’t have in AEW:
Hangman
Omega
Sting
Punk
Danielson
Mox
Christian
Miro
Adam Cole
Jay Lethal
Among others.
He lost to all of the four pillars I believe. Never lost to Starks I believe but put him over on the last promo he did.

Also. The whole “we’re going to take you on a wild ride that you wont know what to expect” [sic] has me thinking this still could be work.

Which means he won a news cycle if it’s true. Star power.

Sheamus does have 4.7 million Twitter followers to Cody’s 1 million.

Uhhuh…I just want to know if Twitter is the metric we’re using.. then Sheamus is a bigger star than Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns because he’s has more followers than they do as well.

Or WWE has pipeline of followers that basically follows their roster, but not follow other wrestlers.

Cody is a PR machine. Is Sheamus?

The Austin comeback story lacks juice because he's supposedly returning to wrestle a slob who competes wearing what I wear to mow my lawn and looks like he should be working at Game Stop.

It’s Steve Austin one of the most famous wrestlers of all time, it doesn’t matter who he is wrestling. He’s bigger than the combined popularity of the WWE roster & that’s a shoot.

But Cody Rhodes jumping ship is a bigger deal. In large part because Cody is a star, and is about to get paid like one.

I wonder if The Rhodes will get another reality show with Peacock.

True. Biggest pops I've ever heard live. Not even the Rock could compare.

As Gorilla Monsoon might say, “Highly unlikely.”

I’ll say this: Your opinion of Cody Rhodes is nearly as high as Cody’s opinion of himself.

Cody is the biggest thing in wrestling to fans who think they are smartened up but fall for the same goofy gimmicks of WWE.

I think he is an amazing performer and has great matches.

But in the pantheon of wrestling he is probably as famous as Dolph Ziggler.
