They make us wear them around the neck. Not really enforced but it's technically a rule

State job, we use the belt clip with retractable cord. We do have some people in the office who wear the neck ones instead.

On the list of things that really bother me, I'd have to say people wearing lanyards is not featured. What bothers me more is people making threads about stupid stuff like other people wearing lanyards. I think less of you for that.

do you work in a highly secured building and you need to go back n forth to different secured areas? It's a PITA taking a card out of your wallet every time. So people in those types of jobs i dont blame them.

I used to wear a customized extra long one that hung down to my crotch so eyes would have to go there. I enjoyed the peering eyes so much and imagined that when babes looked.........never mind, I digress.......

I oversee multiple hotels and each one has different access cards for different areas. It's easier to keep them all together on a lanyard. Work smarter not harder.

I wear my badge on my belt right next to my penis. It makes them realize who is alpha.

I don't have to my ID visible, but if I don't wear it, I'll lose it for a week or so
I'd keep it in my wallet, but I usually leave my wallet in my car when I go to the plant

Every single job I've had since graduation has had some sort of electronic key card. My first job, they had this coin sized thing that most people put on their key ring. Although the only reason you needed it was to come in an entrance other than the main one up front. If you entered the side or back door, you had to scan it. Also on the elevators after hours or on the weekends.

Second job was the same, it was only required to enter the building after hours or the weekend.

Third job you had to have it to come in the side entrance, and our area was locked up and secure before 8 and after 5, so you needed it then. Other than that I left it in my desk.

And at my current employer, we have photo ID key cards that allow us access to certain floors. Since we're in the corporate HQ, no one really wears them on a lanyard, but other locations around town they must be visible and you have to swipe to enter the building or your work area.
