re: Co-workers that come into work SICK

I make it clear to my employees at the start--their sick days aren't for their convenience, but for the protection of everyone else at the office. If they have a cold or intestinal virus in the beginning (contagious) stage they are to stay home and take a sick day.
That guy's boss needs to instruct him now for future reference.

He said he keeps an extra pair of underwear in the glove box of his company vehicle.

Does every place of employment have the type of employee who thinks they are too important to stay home even when they are extremely sick?
Several of us have discussed this with his boss. I've told my boss, I'm not staying up here to get coughed and sneezed all over. If I'm around that and they won't send him home, I'm taking a personal day.
Completely disrespectful to the people around you.

The people that complain about other employees coming to work sick are the same ones that would complain about that employee if he called in sick. You can't fricking win.

Chances are you can work this out with HR. I would happily donate a couple of sick days to keep some plague infested yahoo out of the office.

I'm at work right now with a mild cold. Am I a warrior or an inconsiderate jerk?

How do you know these illnesses are legit? Dude could be an alcoholic and have many common symptoms.

Generally I'm not allowed to miss when sick. I was told no once when I asked to go to the doctor (had a fever) and then the next time I got sick I was only able to go to the doctor and come straight back after throwing up while giving an apartment tour

No he didn't, you have no idea what company he works for, the employee's name, or any other identifying information about the employee. No PHI was disclosed in his post, therefore there is no breach.

I have a feeling that when it's all said and done, this is how The Walking Dead started.

I'm sorry but fever typically equals your body going into defense mode due to an infection. You stay home unless you've been swabbed and had most contagious diseases ruled out. Infecting half the company with your nastiness should be fireable.

Are you running a fever? Are you coughing constantly? Do people seem to be shying away from you? If the answer to 2/3 is Yes, then you're a jerk.

I work unless I'm throwing up or can't physically get out of bed. I can't stand when people take off for sniffles or a headache. Usually women that do that. One girl chipped her tooth and missed a week because it looked bad. Another guy stayed out with poison ivy on his arm for a week. Society has created pussies.

I respect that. However, the Project Manager Im referring to insists on coming in to work and staying a full day even when he has explosive diarrhea, a fever over 101 and pneumonia. He has all of the tools necessary to work from home if he needs to.

Better start cleaning with Clorox wipes

I handle all financial operations of the company. He's on salary so we would most certainly pay him if he needs to take off a day.
Then send his sick arse home.

Work for some of these state agencies and try doing that. They will look at you like your fricking dumb as Donald Duck.

Project Manager at my work comes into work even when hes very sick. Today, he said he has explosive diarrhea and said that he shite himself during a site walk thru this morning with one of our biggest customers.
Why would you tell this to someone in your office?
You: Hey, Ned... Guess what?
Ned: What?
You: I've got explosive diarrhea and I just shite myself!
Ned: Cool story, bro! You rock!
