Why so many in Durango?
Tourist destination with proximity to 3 other states? Not a lot of population across those state lines though.

Maybe enough old people will die in Louisiana to get recreational legalized by 2040. Not holding my breath though, as long as the Louisiana state legislature is still a functioning body.
Maybe if the MJ tax funds would be expressly dedicated to highways and ESP building a BR loop?

Louisiana will eventually legalize. After the Feds and probably 49 other states do it first. At which point the state would have squandered the opportunity to be a MJ tourist destination for the entire southeast region.
If Louisiana legalized, there'd be hordes coming from Texas and all the southeast states. NOLA in particular would explode.

Is it supposed to be coming up in Louisiana for voting to legalize or not sometime next year?
I thought JBE mentioned it recently as a possibility
The tame medical bills that have been sponsored haven't even made it out of committee. Bible beaters and the law enforcement agencies send their brass to the legislature and convince the idiots we have up there that a hole to hell will form under LA if someone dying of cancer smokes a joint.

Even worse than that, the politicians in BR won't even allow the citizens a direct vote on the matter.
They care for us so much.

The last thing politicians want is the public thinking for itself.

The state has raked in $49.7 million in taxes so far this year. The first $40 million goes for school construction projects with anything over that going to the state's public school fund.
Is that all taxes or just tax on weed?

I was going to say something snarky and mean, but I'll just say this: C'mon bruh

Weed.
But doesn't include the taxes on glass, vapes, nutrients, soil, garden supplies, etc.

DENVER -- Marijuana sales in Colorado surpassed the $1 billion mark for 2016 after October amounts were released by the Colorado Department of Revenue.
The figure is from the legal sales of recreational and medical marijuana at Colorado shops. In 2015, sales just missed the $1 billion mark, totaling $996,184,788 ($587,834,219 for recreational, $408,350,569 for medical).
In October, sales dipped from the record high of a month earlier to $117.84 million ($82.79 million for recreational, $35.05 million for medical).
That brought statewide totals for the year to $1,092,159,291 ($720,731,127 for recreational, $371,428,164 for medical).
In September, a record $127.82 million in sales were recorded ($88.24 million for recreational, $39.58 for medical).
Voters approved Amendment 64 in 2012 and sales began on Jan. 1, 2014. Marijuana sales include a 2.9 percent sales tax, a special 10 percent sales tax and a 15 percent excise tax on wholesale transfers.
and the best part...

Wrong....I haven't since brick weed around here since about 1996.
The last time I saw it was last year in LA and I'll see it again next spring.

Yeah! To hell with giving public education more money!
I don't think that's what he is saying. I assume he is for legalization because the prohibition itself is anti-freedom. I won't speak for Cosmo, but that is my main reason for wanting legalization. Extra funding for schools is good, but I agree growing the coffers of government shouldn't be the main motivator, at least in theory. Reducing the stranglehold of laws and regulations on people's ability to make their own decisions that don't harm others is the real win.

In general i support legalization but not on the grounds of giving the government more money
This can't be stated enough. Big gov't is the one that made a plant illegal and filled our prisons with people for using it.
