CNN reporter arrested live on air in Minneapolis - EDIT - being released now

EDIT - Minnesota's governor got involved, took full responsibility for the incident and the crew is being released.
CNN had two reporters within a block of the fires, a black guy and a white guy.
Black guy was arrested as his producer pleaded with police to tell them where they needed to move to. White guy was told to move, did so and was not arrested.
If you're trying to deescalate this situation, this isn't the way you do it. It doesn't matter what your opinion of CNN is. He was on the air when arrested and all he was doing is reporting from the scene.

Surely there will be a ton of backlash over this event from the “wearing masks infringes upon my freedoms” crowd since this dudes first amendment rights just got pwnd.

I guess I'll wait for the full story, but this isn't a good look for cops that don't really need to be antagonizing anyone at this moment.

This is the dumbest way imaginable to try and de-escalate a situation like this... arresting a black reporter who works for CNN on live television in the midst of what is going on has to be the most tone deaf thing I've ever heard

I completely disagree.
It’s like this, sure you will probably get the stuff dismissed but you still can’t escape the fact that an arrest is on your record.
During Katrina during the ole USMC days , it was like this, if you punch a bitch in the mouth, butt stroke an A-hole, or break a mutha frickers teeth, a whole bunch of other A-holes back the frick up and start cooperating really quickly
