Just be thankful you don’t have to live with her anymore and don’t get greedy.

You have to pick your battles. Ex paid child support plus all healthcare. We paid tuition and they lived with us. Was easy to simply let him claim them, prevented the inevitable court battle to decide the OTHER things. He felt he got over with claiming them, we didn’t contest.
Another problem is state courts have no authority over federal tax law.
A divorce decree is an agreement between two ex-spouses. The IRS hates both of them equally and won’t care what it says.

Short of just not enforcing what is doled out, she can’t waive child support if whatever arrangement you all settle on in court dictates that child support must be given. The money isn’t (legally speaking) for her.
Obviously if you’re doing this outside of court it’s different.

Claiming dependents

Just go buy you a SSN at the gas station and claim one of those kids.

So basically, it comes down to me paying taxes on $2000 if I claim 1 and she claims 1. We did everything out of court.

I would ask for it. That 200k of real estate is only going up over time. She's fricking you now more than she did before.

This won’t have any effect on federal taxes.
Custodial parent can release if noncustodial parent otherwise qualifies and you can absolutely spell this out in the decree.

Sounds amicable...by far the best way to dissolve a partnership. Good luck and hang in there.

Divorce decrees are not binding to the IRS.

It goes to whoever the kids stay with the longest during the year.
If its 50/50, it goes to whoever made the most money

Either way it won't lower your tax burden by a helluva lot. It'll lower your taxable income but your over all tax bill won't be much less...may not be worth the discussion.
What? Healthcare premiums should be deducted prior, so yeah, taxable income would be lower, but also claiming the kids is a refundable tax credit which reduces the your tax liability
Go to the IRS site and read this

If you have 50/50 custody, I'd suggest you claim one and she claim the other
