Don't know if serious, but I'm in the process of buying a house in the area. Quite disappointed.

2 years to get 25% of the people to sign a petition and they fail. Kinda hard to blame this on anyone other than maybe a lot of people just weren't that interested in it.
I think a lot of people were put off by the "us vs. them" tactics used and the fact that it involves corrupt politicians from Central.

It is a great area, regardless of whether or not this "city" came to fruition .. Property values are still great over here .. This area isn't going to go to shite overnight ..

they had good momentum early on in the movement, but as some have pointed out leadership was poor and seemed like a total lack of a long term plan, ehh just trust us it'll work!
