Not many people lived “honorably” to see an airport named after them.

He was on Twitter. Was amazing to even be able to follow the man the first broke the sound barrier.

I think it's fitting he a great American like Chuck Yeager died on Pearl Harbor day.

On this day in 1941, He was somewhere in California working on airplanes, training to be a pilot for the army and you can only imagine the rage and horror he felt listening to and reading newspaper coverage of the pearl harbor attacks, oblivious to the fact that he would die on the same day 79 years later.

Rest in Peace, General.

What shitty schools did you attend? Did you graduate HS? Who doesn’t know who Chuck Yeager was & accomplished? He was on this earth 97 years & his life expectancy was 30 years tops in his prime. Unlike Ginsburg, he was a true American pioneer & legend and guess what? No one will be running around w/ their children dressed up in flight suits to virtue signal his passing. Kick the tires & light the fires.

If you don't, that's on you and your pops, Kid. To the rest of us, men like Chuck mean something. Irreplaceable.

I met him many years ago when they were building the engines for his flight in the Rutan Voyager around the world. my Aunt was the guard supervisor at Teledyne Continental in Mobile where they build the engines. she got to let me meet him, and he was such a cool guy - definitely one of my hero's growing up.
