When I was younger, Christmas Day/Morning was the money shot. All the anticipation and counting down was for this. Now, because of my kids having wives and in-laws, everything is done by Christmas Eve for me. Last night was the big family get together. All of the gifts were opened, the spread was eaten, the grandchildren and nieces and nephews played with toys, the outside fire was built and beer was drunk. Now, I’ve been up since 8:00, wife is visiting her sister, and I’ve been alone, drinking coffee, and looking at TD.

Not necessarily complaining. Blessed in every way. Just seems weird that Christmas Day has come to this.

Why aren’t you visiting the in-laws with your wife?

We had to do our Christmas yesterday due to me working but wife and kids were gonna go to in laws and have a get together. Both kids got up this morning with stomach virus, wife is devastated. She’s home alone with sick kids....................... and Jody

I’ve been cooking for 3 1/2 days.
Last evening there were 30 people at my house...I’m enjoying the quiet for now.

Pretty much. She was just over here last night, I don’t need to see her again. My wife just wanted to get out of the house for a bit.

Welcome to not being a child. I use it as an excuse to day drink.

I walked into my mother-in-law's home on Christmas Eve. I asked her 'where is your Christmas tree?' She said she took it down because she was tired of looking at it.

THAT IS WHY you don't put your tree up three weeks before Thanksgiving.

It is time to return Christmas to its rightful time and place. Christmas ought to be a special day in and of itself!
