As far as I know, Kip seldom if ever engaged in racial politics while he was mayor of BR. I think that's why some blacks accused him of not doing more for the black community. He put the best interests of the city as a whole ahead of the interests of NBR. He recognized NBR for the wasteland that it is, and he knew that it was ridiculous to invest tax payer dollars there until the people who live there get their shite straight. Broome represented NBR for over a decade in the State Senate and it never got any better under her watch. That doesn't give me much hope that she's going to do anything positive during her term in office. Hopefully, she's out in 4 years and hasn't done too much damage.

Apples to apples, there is a small percentage, but even the people that study this stuff for a living can't explain why.

So he believes that everyone no matter how much experience they have or how much education they have should be paid the same?

When I opened my work computer, it gives me stupid random facts. Todays stated that only 6.7% of women graduate college with a STEM degree. I would bet that has a LARGE difference in wage gap. STEM vs liberal arts pays quite different.

Yep. Certain sexes are drawn to certain fields and, at the end of the day, you can't force people to choose certain careers. About 90% of nurses are female. Why is there no outrage that men aren't equally represented in that field???

Also, dangerous jobs pay more and are typically held by men. Guess who accounts for 92% of all deaths on the job. That's right, men.

But that's not what she was elected for.

At least not the way she sees it.

There she is.

Ironic that a feminist is leading the charge against the wage gap farce.

well she's a classical feminist and rejects third wave, progressive feminism

also the response is "institutional" in nature. patriarchal society and socialization guides women away from these jobs to keep them oppressed. we have to tear down these institutions to make them more appealing to women and then they'll naturally major in these areas more and society will see a split much closer to 50/50

while there may be merit in this argument, the best course of action is to ask a progressive how they feel about the hijab to gauge their level of hypocrisy. you can literally (and much more easily) make the same argument to display why the "hijab" isn't a real choice, yet...i bet you they defend it

I saw Chris Nakamoto lunching at Hunan's with his camera man a couple of years ago. I wasn't going to interrupt his lunch but one of my less socially adept family members introduced herself and told him how much she enjoyed his reports. Well, he was the epitome of kindness and graciousness, even came to our table to speak to my parents. He gets my vote as a stand-up guy.

I'm registered in AP, my wife in EBR. We voted for Derryl Gissel in the primary, and held our noses for White in the runoff. In AP, I voted for Cointmont.

Right, get a central entity to destroy something only to have it rebuilt by an even stronger and more authoritarian central entity than the one it replaced.

Don't forget that there are all kinds of STEM scholarships aimed at women. There are massive programs within the major STEM employer companies to get more women interested in STEM careers. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
