When should a person go to one vs the other? TIA.

Physical therapist >>>>>>>>> chiropractor

A physical therapist is a real licensed medical professional and actually works with real medical doctors.

Do you need you bones popped or do you need to recover from injury/surgery?

Do physical therapist usually require a referral?

Pretty sure thats the only way/reason you go to one.

Don’t know about all states but in Louisiana, you don’t need a referral. So if you have some kind of muscle or tendon issue etc, can go straight to them.

Chiropractor first.
Physical Terapists were just too lazy to take all the hard sciences in undergrad.

Yes. My primary referred me. I went 3X/week for a month and have not had a problem since. This was after trying several chiropractors for months.

Chiropractors treat symptoms, physical therapists actually treat the underlying cause

They also won't pick you up and wait until you settle your law suit to make payments.

Right!
Those PT’s must be hard up for money. Or just plain greedy. Gotta have their dough up front. Slime balls.

Chiropractor. Mainly because I hate hearing how important "PT's" are.

My other half is a PT so that option.

People on this board are super down on chiropractors but my wife and I have had good results. Also, my daughter and son have had good results with sports/weight training type injuries.

I used to go to a chiro regularly. Problem was, it just allowed me to continue with bad sitting & sleeping posture habits. Then when I couldn't see him for a couple of weeks, I threw my back out horribly.
I'm an ardent supporter of PT over chiros. And you no longer need a referral in Louisiana unless the facility (like Oschner) requires it.

I had better luck with a Chiro over doc/PT and medications in treating my Sciatica. In fact my chiro did almost the same treatments as PT along with adjustments.

Go to both
ETA: I've had good luck with my chriro. He's a pretty conservative "doctor," so he doesn't believe in all the shite about how it solves your psoriasis or whatever. He may, but he keeps mum about it. More importantly, he is treating the underlying symptom of my bulging disc.
PT is fine. But it very much felt like I was going once or twice a week to have them half watch me stretch while they did other shite, which I am perfectly capable of doing on my own and not forking over $250 each visit until I hit my deductible. And then, of course, being double billed by them because I had to pay that cost immediately after each session only to have them send me a bill in the mail for it a month later.
So it really depends on who you get. Ask for recommendations from people you trust.

I think it all depends on your issues. I broke my left shoulder blade into 3 pieces in November. After wearing a sling for 3 weeks I could barely move my arm without severe pain. 2 months of PT and I now have full range of motion without pain. Made a believer outta me.
