The question is what is driving inflation, it is the increase in money or is it the pent-up demand and production and transportation bottlenecks. I think it is a little of both and we will see short-term high inflation but it will ease as soon as the demand and supply even out.

This bump with inflation has been foreseeable since the start of the pandemic. It was obvious this would happen to some extent as everything really started to open up. Supply chains got nuked. Then you had situations like with rental car companies who had to liquidate inventory to survive and now all need new rentals. You have a chip shortage when those things go into every modern device.

Then you have a significant drought developing in the northern plains where they grow all the corn.

Of course the money supply increasing has been a multiplier, but it's way early to be pearl clutching this hard. (Roger being in Alaska though is probably feeling this pretty acutely, so I get his reaction more than most others)

Weird how we're more open today than we were in November of 2020.

Everyone knew (except you) this would happen.

Vaccine rollout was on Trumps watch

Of course it's not. Never even came close to implying that.

Regardless, he will never blame loose spending/printing money as the cause.
Its so predictable.

Not the corn!!! But seriously, if people stopped drinking fricking corn syrup the projected lower yields of corn wouldn't be a big deal.

It accounts for a lot of calories, especially since we also put 10% in the gasoline.

There would be a lot more benefits than that but yeah, point noted.

Yes, I remember when "rising food costs" was on the ballot when I voted in November.

Stevie Wonder could have seen this coming with all of the radical bullshite Joe and the Hoe were touting when he was allowed to go outside during campaign season.

Let's see how long it takes for the econ-idiots to realize the downside of the $15 minimum wage

Don’t fool yourself.

They know the downsides and are counting on them.

Price increases were ok when the c-suite was raiding everything, but people have some weird hang-ups about fast food workers in particular getting paid more.
