Maybe they are just using the rapid iterative development engineering stragety...

Their electric cars are already significantly better than Tesla's, and cheaper.

I don't think people here understand what china has been doing. In the US, the smartest people go to wall street, private equity, etc. In china, investment returns are capped. The smartest people go into engineering, R&D, etc.

Our empire is rotten.

Well, it's not really showing. Their M2 is to the moon - they're quite literally printing money to throw at the tech deficit - yet they're still generations behind on semiconductors even if they could get the equipment. Hence using cutouts to get NVDA chips.

It's 2026 - China has still not yet produced a viable passenger jet that isn't completely dependent on Western components. They've been trying for 50 YEARS.

I'm ok with this response and I salute your enthusiasm for American greatness and ingenuity. I'd take that any day over the constant bickering over how much and why this country sucks.

They gather up all the ideas from all the smartest people and put them into the grubby hands of a very small number of people who have all the money thanks to our crony capitalist economy.

That won't matter after they take Taiwan.

Just way too many moving parts. Can they do it and keep TSMC operational? Even if they could, who is doing the designing, Huawei? Will it be before the US efforts to get TSMC's efforts in Arizona at a viable level?

I think it's pretty obvious there is some validity to the silicon shield, otherwise China wouldn't be pouring cash into their domestic effort and seeing the gap widen month by month.

That happened with Cuban food too thanks to Fidel.

One F-15. One. Not a single F35 or F22. For some perspective:

quote:

US Air Force and Navy combat forces have flown more than 13,000 sorties in Epic Fury so far. Adding those flown by the IAF, we are looking at over 20,000 sorties over more than a month of combat operations. All aerial losses over Iran up to this point have been MQ-9s or Israeli drones.

But sure, those Chinese air defense systems are doing great work. I'm sure they're just flying off the shelves to other countries after that stellar performance.

Or how about those awesome CM-302 anti-ship missiles? All 50 of them failed.

After thirty five days and over 13,000 successful sorties, one F15 shot down is hardly an endorsement of their hardware.
