Possibly. But there was also a massive effort by the Chinese government to keep it quiet. Billions lockdown, streets blocked, huge hospital built in 10 days. They reacted more like “we fricked up” mode than “sorry we eat bats, we’ll protect you all.”

Saying something was not made in a lab doesn't exclude it coming from a lab accidentally via bats brought in to get virus samples especially a lab that had prior reports of sloppy standards. An accident with a bat or bat's blood or other fluids or waste that was brought in to get samples of coronaviruses to study & experiment on (and/or possibly to make something with it in future) wouldn't technically be made in the lab.
