I read that there were something like 3 times more yearly organ transplants in China alone than in the rest of the world combined.

If you’re a party person who needs an organ, you’re almost guaranteed to get one. Just means a few decades get taken off the life sentence of some unlucky political dissident or religious minority.

I hold no ill will for the Chinese people, but the state of China is not our friend, and our politicians need to do a better job of remembering that. Beyond the moral failures, they are the authoritarian epicenter of the globe and are outpacing us on investments in the key technologies of the 21st century. If we don’t start taking the China problem more seriously now, we will very likely look back in 30 years and ask what the hell we were thinking.

I agree about the Chinese, and I think we’ll be thinking that about a lot of the shite that’s going on right now.

Here's a Planet Money podcast about the Uighur in Western China. It's some fricked up shite. They had an actor potray the guy due to China's voice recognition technology.

quote:

Alim is a Uighur, a Muslim minority group in China's Xinjiang province. He was travelling home to see his parents after a long time away from Xinjiang. When his flight landed, he was pulled off the plane by Chinese police and questioned for hours. His blood samples were taken. Officers recorded his voice and took photos of his face from all different directions.

When Alim was released, he realized his hometown was vastly different from the one he remembered. There were security checkpoints and cameras everywhere, police officers waiting to stop you on every block. People were afraid to speak about their faith openly. Personal conversation about anything of substance seemed to cease.

Today on the show, Alim takes us inside his hometown. We see how the Chinese government has created a surveillance state using DNA, voice, and face recognition technology to track and target Uighurs. And we find out how Americans — some knowingly, some unwittingly — helped advance this system.

Note: Alim is not his real name; he requested that we take steps to protect his identity because he's afraid his family will be targeted if authorities find out he's been talking to journalists. Many Uighurs are being detained.

Police in California are investigating at least two cases of people posing as Chinese police driving cars with markings of the Communist Party of China's People's Armed Police (PAP).
California Highway Patrol spokesman Florentino Olivera said an Asian man was arrested Sept. 10 after reports he was impersonating a PAP officer while driving a black Audi A4 with PAP markings and a Chinese national symbol.
Photos of the car were posted on the CHP Facebook page with notice that police responded to several complaints regarding a male Asian driver impersonating a PAP officer.
"The driver was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer and for forging/possessing a fraudulent public seal," the notice said.
Police are looking for a second white vehicle also reported to bear PAP markings in the same area of Irvine, Calif. The town's population is 42 percent Asian American, and many residents are Chinese American.
Prosecutors expect to charge the suspect as if he had impersonated a U.S. police officer. Olivera said the man's name was withheld at the request of investigators.
"We think there is a bigger case here," Olivera said in an interview.
No details of the motive for the activities of the person arrested Sept. 10 were provided. Investigators are still looking into whether the impersonators are linked to the Chinese government.
The arrest in southern California comes amid reports of other Chinese police impersonators in Australia, northern California, and Washington state.
Intelligence experts say the activities appear related to covert Chinese government efforts to intimidate overseas Chinese people regarded by Beijing as dissidents or opponents of the Communist Party.

The entire Chinese government needs to be purged. Jinping and every other party leader should be executed.

As much criticism as I have for the UN, they should be put in control of the country while it transitions to a republic.

Isn't this kind of behavior why Brad Pitt went after that English chick in Spy Games?
