What was the store on clearly and vets prior to it being blockbuster? Leonard krowler?
Leonard Krower I believe, and then it became a Blockbuster. Not sure what it is now as I don't make it down vets much anymore.
It was another one of the signs visible right after Katrina. Big orange LK sign at the top of the building was visible.

I still remember the fricking jingle from that place! It was awesome and forgot about it. Can't believe it took this long for someone to mention. I guess its that Chucky Cheese now.

Not from JP, but parents had friends in River Ridge. When we'd go to their house, I'd always go with their daughters to Fireside Inn. In high school in the 70's we'd go to Fat City because we could always get in the Spanish Gallion. Used to like Cee Beevers Music Bar too. Good times back then.

Sorry, it's been a long time. Early 70's. End of Vets and take a left going to Lakeshore.

I was only there for a few years but went to OLDP and played at Delta. Graduated in '84 as well and remember the Come Back Inn and Buy a Pak well.

did you graduate 8th at OLDP in 1980?
If so, We absolutely know each other as you were in my grade...small world.
I cannot find any of my old yearbooks, so asking for initials would be pretty hard for me to figure out.

I grew up in that stretch where I could play either for Delta in JPRD or Westgate in Kenna Brah Rec.
Some things I thought of:
Swimming and eventually working out at Cureton's tucked off of W. Napoleon (before it was an actual four lane highway there).
Copeland's house of lights
Trampoline place with the sprinklers turned on AND liquid soap poured on them (could you imagine this today, LOL)
Metry Mardi Gras Sundays, were we would go watch the Sunday 1 pm parade, which usually sucked, and then go eat at Super Popeyes or Panchos, and then hoping the cops would keep Vets closed between parades so we could play football in the street for 3 hours.
The space walk / fun place on Power and Vets
The "original" Smoothie King which was called Town and Country I think on Mississippi and Vets
Children's Palace across Vets
The old regional library on Causeway near Lakeside
The haunted house in the JC Penney parking garage at Lakeside
Joy's Cinema City 8, with the roaches everywhere
Buying our first home computer at Campo
Oh and Sharkey's Reef, the place near Causeway that was a restaurant with huge fish tanks, and eventually became a teen club. Some DB from Meisler wanted to fight me there once. Good times.

Come Back Inn on West Metairie
Anyone remember what the small grocery store that was a few doors down was?
...we'd walk there from OLDP just before any after school function and grab a snack.
My Dad loved the Come Back Inn.

Also, Delta playground brought out the sluts for their sockhops. Damn I miss that.
Some crazy stuff went down outside the gym on those benches and under those little shelters (well crazy stuff for a 12 year old)

Used to go here as recently as the late 2000's. Only place that made them right. None of them taste the same as this store made them.

I graduated in '86 so 2 yrs younger than y'all. Guys who played at Delta and close to your age were: Buddy Ferry, Neal Gonzales, Tommy Thevenot, Archie Norris, Johnny Thornton, Marc Baroni, Billy Ragusa, David Heitzman,
Delta always had a great boxing club coached by Frank Girard
