Not sure what to make of this without more info.

About the only thing I can say is that I trust Jason Ard to handle this with the same level of scrutiny he gave Denny Perkins. Which is to say that nothing happened because it was never written down.

Nothing started happening with Perkins until the media got involved and the state AG's investigators got involved. Based on public releases there was a ton of evidence which got 3 people to get long-term sentences. Ard appeared to drag his feet on Perkins and was combative with the media when the case became public. The public should be skeptical of LPSO regarding the investigation of criminal accusations against officers.

If there is an ongoing custody dispute, that may lead people to make up false accusations. But, we really don’t know.

The article reads that he tickled their genitals. What is a doctor going to be able to determine? We obviously don't know the whole story. Did the mother ask leading questions

That was odd to me too when I read the article. Obviously we do not know what they mean when they say tickled their genitals, but how do you "test" for that? (rhetorical because I really don't want to know)

With that said, this sounds like leading questions
quote:

She said 'yes, daddy touches my tutu.' I said how did he do it, and I said I'd bring you a baby doll so you can show me how he did it. My oldest was 7 and she said 'oh, does he tickle it like this?' I said does he do it to you? She said 'yes, he does it to me.'"

Again, not knowing what was done, the father could have thought he needed to clean her area and the motion from mom made it look like he was molesting her when he was simply cleaning. With that said, he very well could have been doing a lot more than just cleaning, but without penetration how do you "test for it" outside of answering questions. And since the Dr is most likely not a professional interrogator, can you rely on her line of questioning without physical evidence?

Why?

b/c the story seems suspect to me and I have an opinion....

Why do you believe the mother?

did you miss the part that they did a lie detector test?

I saw where the children's mother said "they can nitpick or say he passed a lie detector or a psyche eval". The sheriff's office didn't say anything. Nothing. All I've said all along is that he should address it. They could easily say "we've conducted an investigation and see no reason to proceed further" or something similar. I honestly don't care one way or the other. You seem to be pretty invested in defending them.

LPSO

The first thing that popped into my head was Lafayette Parish Sherriff's Officer. Because I live in Lafayette Parish.

Then I figured it was more likely to be Livingston Parish, due to its proximity to Baton Rouge and the fact that it is brought up on this site often.

Then I started thinking about how many LPSO's in Louisiana.

Lincoln Parish, La Salle Parish, and Lafourche Parish.

I think specifying in the title might help

I guess we read and interpret things differently...

quote:

The judge went ahead and said she was going to return the kids back to him."

so the judge is covering up child molestation charges in your opinion...why?

this answers some of your other questions...

quote:

The WBRZ Investigative Unit told Ard about the documents and accusations and asked to speak to him on camera. He turned down our request for an interview and instead issued the following response:

"'Our policy, in keeping with state law, prohibits me from providing information related to investigations involving juveniles. However, I can confirm that there is no current criminal investigation by our office, nor are there any criminal charges pending.' - Sheriff Ard."

quote:

"I do think they should attempt to prosecute him with all the evidence instead of what they choose to nitpick with and say 'Oh, he passed a polygraph and a psych text.'

Typically in this country a trial happens when the DA believes there is enough evidence that justifies a trial and/or believes it should go to a grand jury to see if the evidence supports a trial.

quote:

Thornton now says both of her kids are dealing with mental anguish.

are they still having unsupervised visits/custody with the father? If you were the mother would you allow this? WBRZ sucks and couldn't ask these types of questions....i have no clue when this took place. 2019 or this past easter...do you?

quote:

The WBRZ Investigative Unit spoke to the alleged perpetrator by phone. He called the accusations "bulls***" and referred everything to his lawyer. After the lawyer said DCFS could not validate the complaint

Add another agency to the conspiracy

Now let's say it is all BS allegations....what can he do to the mother? You have to get the kids to say in court that mom coached them and dad didn't do anything wrong? who is going to win in that scenario?

Nothing would be done to the mother, even if proven to be lies. You can take them to Civil court but if they have nothing then you're just wasting money going through the process.

Normally in cases like that, the DA will go to a grand jury in order to get a true yes bill before even filing charges.

i really have no clue what this means

and this is one reason I am skeptical at times. Also I really want to know if the mother, who says the father sexually abused them, actually abides by any court ordered visits/custody...if a mother truly believes the allegations would she honor visits/custody? hell no

You are familiar with DCFS in this state, right?

That’s not conspiracy, that’s incompetence.

Brett McMasters is, and I read his bio this morning and he's definitely qualified and recognizes that LP is pretty fricked up right now.

Same. But let’s see how this pans out. Brandon browning was hardcore anti-ard, and it’s clear they got to him. We will see if they get to McMasters.
