sometimes i kind of feel bad when I speak poorly of homeschooling because i know a lot of people do it very well, but what i see and hear anecdotally... it feels like a potentially huge problem in the future.

i can see homeschooling being a good choice in an urban or rural area with bad schools, the father makes good money, and the mother is well educated but able to stay at home.

eta: a lot of the people i know who are homeschooling aren't qualified to run a dollar general and made Ds & Cs at a less than average school. they live in isolated rural areas and don't have any money... they're not willing or able to do all of the group activities, go to the library, etc.

Just like in any form of education - there are methods that work and methods that don’t. So in that regard, it doesn’t really matter.

It depends on how much the parents care - in any education situation- regardless of what dad earns or how well mom is educated

Mennonites are much healthier than average Americans. A child’s death doesn’t change that.

I'm sure the native Americans were the same way until the Europeans arrived with their gift blankets.

The only difference I have seen is in personalities of the children and that is even getting better because of co-op programs.

Every child I have met that is home schooled has been super sharp and have learned the necessities including PERSONAL FINANCE.

This is a huge deal to me, so I respect that.

it was rhetorical

Just because something is ‘fda approved’ doesn’t mean it isn’t harmful (no I didn’t click the link)

Native Americans were doing great and living in their own little hemisphere. Then some immigrants came over without proper documentation and brought their diseases with them. The Native Americans had no immunity to those disease and then they started dying like crazy. The vast majority of the dead never even had contact with Europeans. The lack of vaccines and natural immuinty allowed the diseases to run rampant kill 85-90% of the Native American population in the first 100 years after Columbus "discovered" the New World.

You should have. It is a chart of all the approved influenza vaccines with their ingredients listed.

why? My mind is made up

Lets take a gamble on a vaccine EVERY year - that has stuff like formaldehyde in it - no thanks

And I’ll repeat - just because it’s fda approved doesn’t mean it’s not harmful

Just because it's a Mennonite community doesn't mean that there aren't illegals in it. There are something around 50,000 Mennonites in Chihuahua.

Do you have any idea how fricking stupid this sounds? The world is too complicated to be an expert in everything, even if you are a genius. We have to trust the scientific consensus. We have to trust experts.

You can't do 2 hours of internet research and decide which vaccines are valid and which ones aren't. We are so fortunate as a society to have the best research universities on planet Earth. The geniueses at Harvard, Stanford & Johns Hopkins aren't twisting their mustahces while plotting your demise. They have dedicated their lives to saving you and your kids. Listen to them.
