Maybe they wouldn't grow up to harass normal people at college if we did.

There is no way on God's green earth this country isn't going to be irrevocably effed up within a decade or two.

What happens if said cops get caught trying to kidnap the child and eat a bullet? Or get a gun shoved in their faces or physically assaulted?

Could they be criminally charged for attempted kidnapping?

Do you know how easy it is to lose your kids? An angry neighbor can have your kids pulled away. A overly zealous schoolteacher...

In the case of abuse, I can see someone taking your kids. If your 4 year old is 30 yards away and they take them, I'd hope you could sue the hell out of the authorities. But you can't.

I really expected the cops to be wrong. Mother is a dumbass. I doubt the neighbors called because he was alone for a few minutes and she admitted she wasn't even watching him. Kid was playing on a playground he could have easily hurt himself without adult supervision. Not only is she a dumbass she is a stupid drama queen.

The risk that one will lose their child to the loony child protective services people is much great than losing them to a bad guy or accident in most cases

Sorry Rog, you won't convince me. I'm nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs when around children. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I'll always be on the side of watch them hard, it's not our early days out there now.

Was anyone else just praying she was white?

I couldn't handle another slogan at this point.

Get the frick out of here kid, if you can't take care of your child and provide a safe caring environment you have no right to be a parent.

Damn stright bro!

My kid only goes outside with proper protection and doesn't wander more than 3' from me. I love and care about my children, but apparently many people don't and we need to go take their kids and raise them ourselves, the RIGHT way!

The woman was making a valid point in that we don't need to be writing helicopter parenting into the law... BUT... looking at the aerial shot of the apt complex, there are big trees between her apt and the playground. And for there to be enough unsupervised time between him being gone and her coming to find him for the cops to arrive and gather isn't free range parenting. At 4 years old, that's negligence. I have a 4 year old that I allow to play in my back yard alone, but I check on him every minute or two thru the window. Kids need to learn independence, but not that level at that age.

It is true that ppl are way too sensitive about stuff though. A few weeks ago, we were on our way somewhere and the kids were already in car seats when I realized I'd forgotten something upstairs. Mr. 1999 was in the car with them, but hurried back in to get his watch. Kids are in car, not running, no keys, door to house and car open so we can hear them. We walk back out and two busybodies are power walking by, peering at our car and whispering, because they can see and hear kids inside but no parents. It was 68 degrees, in our own driveway, we were gone maybe 45 seconds, but these women were ready to call the cops on us. Ridiculous!!

The mom should be thankful she hasn't gotten the kid a dog, a 4 year old seeing his dog shot would be very traumatic.
