What's interesting about this is that you can only "own and operate" one restaurant. Not sure how Torres is getting multiple locations.

I wonder if you can have multiple LLC's and do it? Or maybe he's a 49% owner of the others?

Maybe there is a loophole with owning walk up and/or drive thru only.

If you took the insurance proceeds from Katrina re: your father's properties scattered throughout the Quarter and just used them to start a business without his consent, you could probably have a decent shot at being successful too.

I was told it was absolute. Not doubting you, just quoting what they told me. I made a run at putting one in Mandeville some time back but it didn't work out. It would piss me off if I invested and then saw them make an "exception."

Wrong on so many levels. The Chick-fil-A know it all’s are all looking pretty damn moronic right now

Looking at the article again, I only see Torres tied to the Mid-City location, no?

I thought Chick-fil-A requires the franchisees to work in the store. Can’t see Torres refilling straw dispensers.

I’ll be honest I kind of like New Orleans not littered with fast food restaurants. And I love CFA.

As do I. Mid City does have that cluster of chains near the Winn Dixie on Carrollton, however.

I think they’ll do it if you’ve been a long time owner and some other circumstances. I forget exactly what I’ve read.

The Mid-City outlet would be drive-thru only and located on the corner of Tulane Avenue and South Carrollton Avenue

Got to compete with that chicken place that took over the burger King there.

It will replace chicken place that took over.

Torres needed the new chicken place to keep the drive thru license.

Torres won't be the franchisee.

Yeah I was only kidding, didn't know he bought that lot. I figured a CFA would wreck a place like that.

I hadn't really seen anyone there the times I've driven by it.
