And frick the male officer. "Just shoot him" he says as he's winded from trying to restrain the dude. I mean, a tazer was never an option?

I think they did taze him. I have no idea where we are at with tazer technology but we need to get to a point where they can instantly immobilize someone. I feel like that would really help police do their jobs better.

I have never seen a more timid worthless police officer before in my life. Wonder what that thing they call a mayor will say now.

So which is it?

He deserved to die because the cops are trained poorly?

Because officer Hooks doesn't have the physical capability to do the job?

You don't shoot a person who is running, unarmed up a escalator in the back. And i'm Super Pro Cop. Probbaly more Pro cop than the Cop/s on here who post.

But what is wrong is wrong. She fricked

100%, that was a fricking joke on the part of those cops. Un fricking real to be honest. The guy did not get their gun, he was wrestling with them. That is not a justified shooting, and she lost all "accidental discharge" defense when they ran up the escalator and shot him in the back.

Why was he resisting? If he didn’t resist he wouldn’t have been shot. Case closed.

So is it your opinion that anyone running or resisting in any way can and should be shot?

Because if so that is an absurd position.

The comments on Twitter are incredible.

Guess they didn’t see the multiple taser probes used as a non-lethal option that apparently had no effect on the subject.

They probably didn't penetrate his clothing. Three days ago, when this apparently happened, it was in the 20s.

And are you suggesting that if they taze a person and they are still resisting it's ok to just pull out a gun and kill them? Resisting arrest or fleeing police is now a capital offense?

I’m saying historically when tasers have no reaction after deployment, the subject has been on drugs.

Simmer down there libtard.

this dude was being arrested for walking between train cars.... and he was SHOT for it. yes he was resisting arrest... but the arrest was pretty silly in nature. you don't shoot him. you call back up or let him get away. who cares... the punishment doesn't even come in the same universe as the crime

Looked like a scene from Reno 911. Holy hell, how did those people become cops?

So you were just stating what we all saw in the video? That the tazer didn't have an effect? Nice addition to the thread.

From wikipedia, so probably lacking some detail but here's when deadly force is justified. They're gonna have a hell of a time convincing a jury that this guy who was apparenlty unarmed and just walking between train cars was gonna kill people on the sidewalk.

quote:

In the United States, the use of deadly force by sworn law enforcement officers is lawful when the officer reasonably believes the subject poses a significant threat of serious bodily injury or death to themselves or others. The use of deadly force by law enforcement is also lawful when used to prevent the escape of a fleeing felon when the officer believes escape would pose a significant threat of serious bodily injury or death to members of the public. Common law allowed officers to use any force necessary to effect a felony arrest but this was narrowed in the Tennessee v. Garner ruling in 1985 when the U.S. Supreme Court said that "deadly force...may not be used unless necessary to prevent the escape and the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious bodily harm to the officer or others." The cops posed a greater danger to the general public in that public train station than the perp.

I'm not a cop but I could've handled that situation 100% better than those cops did. People like that on the force deserve to be shot.

I'm starting my protest tomorrow afternoon on the Dan Ryan if anybody wants to join me. At night I plan on burning down my country club's clubhouse. These actions should prove my point.

It was during fricking rush hour, and this cop is shooting blindly up the escalator toward the main area of the station. She's lucky she didn't fricking kill a random commuter.

quote:

The shooting happened shortly after 4 p.m. Friday as afternoon rush hour was underway at the busy subway station at 521 N. State St., just outside the Loop. Two officers assigned to the mass transit unit tried to stop a man whom they saw “jumping from train (car) to train (car),” which is a violation of a city ordinance, Deputy Superintendent Barbara West said at a Friday night news conference.
Police declined to answer when asked if a weapon was confiscated from the man shot.
The officers chased the man from the train and onto the platform, and then struggled to take him into custody, West said. Both officers deployed their tasers on the man, she said. “At some point” during the brawl, one of the officers discharged their gun, striking the man twice, West said.
