Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Thursday that statues of Christopher Columbus should not be torn down in response to the death of George Floyd, because it would amount to erasing history.
Lightfoot, a Democrat, spoke with the Chicago Tribune about the removal of Columbus statues and other controversial symbols like the Confederate flag, saying that they should be used as educational tools to school America's youth.
“I think that the way we educate our young people, in particular, about their history is to educate them about the full history,” she said.
Lightfoot added that she doesn't support changing the city's observance of the Columbus Day holiday by renaming it Indigenous People's Day, and wants to "not try to erase history, but to embrace it full-on.”
Will the cultural fascists attack more Chicago businesses and communities in response to this?

Lightfoot wasn't mayor when Jussie's shenanigans were happening.
The previous mayor and the Chicago Police came down on the fake hate crime and false police report VERY hard.

Chicago will one up Seattle and Minneapolis. They'll not only do away with cops, but they'll have no mayor. The gangs can have it. South Chi anyway.

I just got a text about this one.
I don't think the Chicago mayor is as insane as everyone thinks. She panders, but she is very well aware that communities need police officers.....and that Chicago needs an economy to continue being awesome.

Lightfoot is an enigma; tiny black american gay democrat who's also a foul mouthed, straight talking hard arse. My friends in Chicago like her. So her position on this doesn't surprise me.

I just don't see a former US Attorney ditching law enforcement. Lightfoot may as well show up to work every day in police uniform. That's what she is.

There are a lot of Italians in and around Chicago. Some, involved in "businesses" that aren't afraid to intimidate government officials
